It's from today's Jack Thompson press coverage announcing the new lawsuit against Sony, Take-Two and Rockstar.
It makes everything perfectly clear - except for what role video games may have played. That's not so clear, other than Thompson's contention that they are "murder simulators".

This is also the same science various witch-hunters have used to "prove" the existance of raping demons and witches- a lot of people say they've seen it therefore it must be true. This kind of science was also referenced in that one sorry editorial, the one lamenting the fact the courts found no science that games hurt minors, despite the courts not asking anybody on the street if constantly playing violent games is bad. (man that was a sorry article)
Has anybody here seen that one APA article stating that liberal children were smarter and more confident than conservative children of the same age? I would like to find it if anybody knows what I'm talking about.
Ok I am done with that, in all seriousness Jack needs to honestly see the light and stop blaming games for everything a kid does.

Also, the Xbox has built-in Parental Controls so if Cody had the Xbox version, Microsoft can't be held accountable as they provided parents with control over what their children play.

I agree. It's time for somebody to file a countersuit against Thompson for libel and slander. It worked for WWE against the Parent Trash Cult.
He needs to be exposed for what he really is. and we need to use him as an example for what a anti-violence activist SHOULD'T become.
For once,i would appriciate it if there was a critic of games who DIDN'T relentlessly slander games and actully cared about media violence(Other then D. walsh,and Possibly the guy from Pennsyvania.)

Why is Thompson still alive and unharmed if the people he has openly derided are mindless killers? Why isn't the news reporting on the death threats he must be receiving? Could it be because gamers don't actually want to hurt real people?
The difference between the shape of a gun and the shape of a video game controller is substantial. I would think that common sense would dictate that the only thing this boy could have learned from such a game is that shooting someone will seriously injure or kill them. I would also think that any fourteen year old would already know that, particularly in this case, given that the boy worked on a ranch. He was, in all likelihood, taught to use a gun by his father, so that he would be able to shoot coyotes and other predators that threatened the family's livestock. I suppose my overall point is that no video game can train a person to kill.
