An old foe of Rockstar's Manhunt series has praised the BBFC's decision to ban the game in the U.K.
Labour MP Keith Vaz, who led a campaign against the original Manhunt in 2003, was clearly pleased by yesterday's announcement that Manhunt 2 would not be available for sale in the U.K., calling it an "excellent decision."
According to a report in the
Telegraph, Vaz also said that PlayStation 3 shooter Resistance: Fall of Man should be banned as well.
Resistance, of course, has been much in the news of late due to a controversy over its depiction of battle scenes in Manchester Cathedral.

I can't believe he'd ban Resistance because of its in-game architecture, though. That's got to be the dumbest thing I've ever read.

I agree with that and if basing his arguement on it thenmaybe he should find a new fake excuse.
@#$% you. @#$% you, you big, ugly squirrel man hiding things away in his cheeks.
I agree that this is just dumb. If the current ratings aren't appropriate, create a higher rating/better system.
Oh yes - of course using a church as a backdrop is A Bad thing, isnt it? Certainly bad enough to ban it.
Utter twat.
Cept if Vaz is getting some sweet MS money, like that company that fought Sony over it's vibration function on the controllers, and he only wants to cripple Sony games...
I think the Raters were Influenced beforehand.
Well, to use a common British term, the man IS considered to be a complete prick by most people ;)
now im pissed!
Aside from all this, I really do feel that there is a lot of political modivation aside from being lined with greyscale lies. How many other games involve churches though? I know that Call of Duty and what not does. You have huge fights in those things and they aren't banned.
A game can also get AO for extreme Violence. Same for NC-17. Try visiting the ESRB and MPAA websites every once in a while.

Hahaha, he seems very hamster-like to me in that picture. ;)
"The BBFC agrees! Games are teh ebul! Good going, the BBFC!" they cry, casually glossing over the fact that the BBFC gave the evil apocalypse-inducing Columbine simulator Bully a tame 15 rating last year.
The BBFC banned a single game because they concluded it was just too awful to be sold to the public. People on both sides of the argument are seeing the same slippery slope where none exists - it's just that Vaz and his ilk are seeing it more like a waterslide.
Unfortunately for him his dream of banning resistance is just a pipe dream.
Oh and to anyone who asks why they don't care when other games use churches. Resistance used a real life church, the other games use generic made up churches, so if anyone wanted to ban those games because of the churches they'd have absolutely no case. Because manchester cathedral is real they might have a case.
They still don't have a case.
you mean seen?
That's why the sensible people are saying that Vaz is talking a load of cotton wool balls, and why Resistance was approved for sale by the BBFC.
F*ck censorship (Pun intended)
Hey, thanks for calling me a retard! Really appreciate it!
Not only he is talking a load of cotton wool balls, he managed to fill his mouth with said cotton wool balls :P
Hes always the first to complain too, the smut bastard, but only about games. Im gonna petition the short arse (yeah hes short) next time a film with an 18 rating comes out, on the grounds that it made me overly violent or something daft.
This is the kinda crap that stops me from voting, no matter who i vote for i still want them dead.
He was also connected to some 'cash for passports' scandal from a few years ago, but managed to escape censure, and refused to resign, insisting he had done nothing wrong despite the evidence to the contrary. Ah, Politicians, eh?
Don't knock it until you try it, you idiot!
