Last month, Super Columbine Massacre RPG (SCMRPG) creator Danny Ledonne
released a trailer to his upcoming documentary,
Playing Columbine.
Keith Stuart at Guardian Unlimited caught up with Ledonne for
some Q&A about the film. Among Ledonne's comments:
I am fully candid in saying that 'Playing Columbine' makes no attempt to be 'objective' and remain neutral; it has arguments to make and while it includes counter-arguments, the film (much like the game) has a perspective and a thesis to convey...
There is ultimately no way to "justify" SCMRPG in the minds of those who find it deplorable but I believe even the game's detractors will find that the film fleshes out the controversy to better understand the future of games as a medium. The film is essentially a challenge to game developers to rethink the limits of their medium and a challenge to the general public to expect (demand!) more from games than mere entertainment...
No one really knows where games are headed; indeed there are so many potential directions that it may soon be superfluous to attempt to call all these diverse creations "videogames" whatsoever.

Sometimes common sense and compassion for the victims and thier families is more imprtant than the rest of us "understanding" through interactive media or film.
Ledonne Rocks. Comment wipes do not.
Spam Karma 2 went all Chinese Newspaper on GP and had to be let go... the exact number of snarks lost in the ensuing secretarian violence will probably never be known.
