We're very sorry to learn that Andrew Bub aka GamerDad, has suffered a heart attack.More details can be gleaned from a report on the GamerDad site, penned by Andrew's wife, Linda:
On Saturday September 1st, Andrew Bub - the GamerDad, and my husband - suffered a heart attack. An anterior wall Myocardial Infarction to be exact. On Sunday the 2nd, he had an additional MI and on Labor Day he endured a Quadruple Bypass operation, which saved his life. He's been in the hospital ever since and dearly misses his children, his website, and all of you - his readers...
Over the past four years GamerDad has published so much. Look over the site, loads of game reviews, and countless other articles about gaming. He's appeared as a spokesman, and in countless newspapers, magazine articles, and radio programs defending gaming with your kids - or at least that being involved is means good parenting.
GamerDad is apparently going under the knife again today and his family is hoping for some financial support from the gaming community. For those in a position to help out, there is a PayPal link on the GamerDad site.
GP: On behalf of the entire GamePolitics and ECA community, we wish Andrew a speedy recovery!

I wonder if JT will issue a letter in the vein of his infamous MetalGearSolid.org travesty?
If he did it'd probably go straight to the round file, where anything of his belongs. :P
@JT:
A suggestion: Burn in hell, thx.
@Twin-Skies:
And now you know why he didn't get jack s**t from me in the 'get well soon' department.
@Jesse Young:
I'd happily settle for disbarred/banned.
@Erik:
Agreed. Hope he'll enjoy his stay, cause it's gonna be for a little while...
@GamerDad wellwishers:
Again, signed, agreed, etc. My sentiments exactly.
Regardless of the person experiencing this, whether it be GamerDad, my best friend, or the most hated person in America (no, that was not directed at anyone), I would wish them the best. Life is precious, and I don't support murder or unnecessary death by any means.
And GamePolitics, I hate to be a pain, but if you could do something about Mr. Thompson's comments it would be greatly appreciated...their presence must violate some type of (at least ethical) term of use. Just asking so that I and the rest of the people commenting on here don't have to read or respond.
I can't stand looking at Jack Thompson parading about here as one of the most evil, self-centered men alive. He's a hypocrite, a tiny black ball of hate, and he gives Christianity a horrible name.
Someone, /please/ erase his comments and ban his IP address. He's only a troll who loves to laugh at the pain of others and he's gotten far too many chances to correct himself. It's time for judgment.
Hooah
My thoughts are with you, Gamerdad! Get well soon =D

I'm as disgusted as many of the GP readers have expressed themselves to be in comments here and in e-mails to me.
However, I'm not going to issue a ban or delete the comments.
If the man wishes to create this kind of documentation about himself for all of the world to view, who are we to argue?
Those who are new to GP may not know the history, but it goes back a long way. He was banned from posting & even reading the site (via IP block) for about 18 months. I relented in July, after I responded to a lengthy attack on me, published rather irresponsibly by the PopZart website. Thought I'd give the man a chance to reply to what I said and then just decided to let it ride for a while.
Rest assured, I will continue to monitor the situation.
Jack you are a passionate jerk. You could have said nothing really, nothing at all. Hell, so could of I.
Please, PLEASE lay off the whole "fiticious bronze-age" thing. Stop taking every possible chance to swipe at other people's beliefs. Honestly, you remind me of JT in that matter, in that he takes every possible opportunity to swipe at computer games.
Just... Just lay off.
See ya tomorrow, everyone, I'm going to bed.
I see your logic on this one Dennis,if JT wishes to give us enough ammo to fight off a small army of him,then he should be free to. Not our fault he's never heard of karma, or, what goes around, comes around
banning jack has nothing to do with his free speech, just like his liscence to practice law has nothing to do with his free speech (hes gotten so whipped by the first ammendment defence hes trying to use it in his own defence against the bar).
Jack has the right to his opinion and to express that, however a privately owned site does not have to publish that opinion if it is given to them. its the same as demanding to be on TV or in the papers, that is not a right its a privelidge reserved for those who can conduct themselves in a befitting manner. Jack is welcome to publish his opinions on his own blog or newsite, he does not have the right to hijack this own if the owner doesnt want him to.
I'm going to assume JT is going to chuck an envenomed diatribe @ some point in here...
Please don't tarnish this thread by mentioning his name. Seriously. And to Andrew, get well soon, I hope everything goes okay.
Hope you'll be allright soon!
....
What?

Get well soon !!
I'll see if I can scrounge up some extra money to donate, and I get paid this coming friday. so I'll see if I can help then as well.
Best to you and your family, and hope you get better soon.
Alas since he doesn't, he simply wishes for the best and prays that nothing goes wrong.
At the risk of sounding snarky, and it is a little tongue in cheek, who's wouldn't be surprised if the heart attack was somehow linked into gaming activities b y GD's opponents? It would be silly, heartless and totally malicious, but I wouldn't be surprised at this stage....

Watch Jack come in and say how everyone was 'bullying' him for his 'heart condition' a month or so back when we were really all showing HIM the same sentiments.
Get well soon, bro!

@Zerodash
Odds are JT will be cursing his luck
