We're very sorry to learn that Andrew Bub aka GamerDad, has suffered a heart attack.More details can be gleaned from a report on the GamerDad site, penned by Andrew's wife, Linda:
On Saturday September 1st, Andrew Bub - the GamerDad, and my husband - suffered a heart attack. An anterior wall Myocardial Infarction to be exact. On Sunday the 2nd, he had an additional MI and on Labor Day he endured a Quadruple Bypass operation, which saved his life. He's been in the hospital ever since and dearly misses his children, his website, and all of you - his readers...
Over the past four years GamerDad has published so much. Look over the site, loads of game reviews, and countless other articles about gaming. He's appeared as a spokesman, and in countless newspapers, magazine articles, and radio programs defending gaming with your kids - or at least that being involved is means good parenting.
GamerDad is apparently going under the knife again today and his family is hoping for some financial support from the gaming community. For those in a position to help out, there is a PayPal link on the GamerDad site.

Regardless of the person experiencing this, whether it be GamerDad, my best friend, or the most hated person in America (no, that was not directed at anyone), I would wish them the best. Life is precious, and I don't support murder or unnecessary death by any means.
And GamePolitics, I hate to be a pain, but if you could do something about Mr. Thompson's comments it would be greatly appreciated...their presence must violate some type of (at least ethical) term of use. Just asking so that I and the rest of the people commenting on here don't have to read or respond.
I can't stand looking at Jack Thompson parading about here as one of the most evil, self-centered men alive. He's a hypocrite, a tiny black ball of hate, and he gives Christianity a horrible name.

I'm as disgusted as many of the GP readers have expressed themselves to be in comments here and in e-mails to me.
However, I'm not going to issue a ban or delete the comments.
If the man wishes to create this kind of documentation about himself for all of the world to view, who are we to argue?
Those who are new to GP may not know the history, but it goes back a long way. He was banned from posting & even reading the site (via IP block) for about 18 months. I relented in July, after I responded to a lengthy attack on me, published rather irresponsibly by the PopZart website. Thought I'd give the man a chance to reply to what I said and then just decided to let it ride for a while.
Rest assured, I will continue to monitor the situation.

As far as I remember, when you tried to put your wifes illness forward as a reason behind your appalling behaviour, there were no malicious messages from this board. People continued to disagree with and debunk your lies but everyone professsed nothing but sympathy and concern for your wife's wellbeing.
How dare you chime in on a thread devoted to wishing well a person struck by bad health and insult that person? How dare you?! This is just as bad as when you mocked the person who committed suicide on the Metal Gear Solid Forums. And just like that time, the people's health had nothing to do with video games, yet you have to find some angle to blame them.
For your information as you don't seem to do any research (Bill Gates responsible for shutting down the counter-strike servers, LOL) Gamerdad has never endorsed violent games being played by kids. His website is dedicated to informing and empowering parents so that they know what kind of content is out there in the rapidly maturing media of video games. He advocates parents knowing more about this pass time that many of their kids enjoy, and promotes understanding of the fact that while many video games are aimed at children, there are certain titles that are not appropriate for young children.
Debunking another one of your little chunks of misinformation, video games do not lead to obesity in children. Children being lazy leads to obesity in children. Parents not getting their child to get up off their ass leads to obesity in children. Parents who don't give a shit about what their child eats and does not try and get them to do any physical activity leads to obesity in children. I have played video games my whole life and while I would be happier losing a few pounds, I am in good health and nowhere even near obese. The thing is, I understand that sitting in front of a screen for hours on end is not good for my health. If more parents taught their kids this instead of letting them sit there and vegetate then there would be a lot less obesiity in children.
To finish Mr Thompson, I think I have to reiterate my disgust at the complete lack of taste, tact and basic human decency in your posts here. You tried to tell Gamerdad that you would put him in touch with parents of shooting victims. Maybe of the parents of the shooters had followed the good advice that people like Gamerdad provide then these tragedies wouldn't have happened.
Mr Thompson, this is the third time you have used another persons illness in an attempt to further your selfish and censory agenda. You tried to gain sympathy by referencing your wifes battle with cancer. You drew attention to Norm Kent's surgery while feeling no sympathy whatsoever. And now you have taken a tragedy that has befallen a man who has done nothing but good in attempting to educated parents and give them the tools and knowledge to better raise their kids, and you have tried to twist it into proof that games are bad.
Mr thompson, if you ever become seriously ill, I would hope that for your sake, no-one acts with such a lack of decency towards you. And even pro athletes get heart attacks sometimes (See Jonny Gomes, Tampa Bay Devil Rays OF who had a heart attack at 22. 22!) Second, why bring parents who have lost something into this? Better yet, why not let them grieve in peace? That's just common decency.
As for GamerDad, although I don't frequent the site, you have my best wishes, as I've had loved ones go through life-threatening health problems and I know how his family feels. That kinda stuff just hits you like a sledge when you hear about it. Regrettably, my spare change situation is somewhere in the area of -$17000, so I probably won't be able to donate, but I will say one thing: Play on.

Game controllers cause neither obesity or heart disease, thats a lie told by you, inactivity and overeating causes obesity, playing a videogame requires more energy than sitting in church, and all playing games does to your heart is increase the speed, the same can be said for excercise itself. So unless youre going to say 'church causes obesity and excersice leads to heart disease' I want you to admit youre a liar, otherwise get the hell out.
You know the brain uses the majority of youre body's energy jack? mental stimulation (games) can be as beneficial to losing fat deposits as normal excerise, it does not however improve youre physical fitness.
