CBS reporter Daniel Sieberg (left) has a Manhunt 2 feature planned for tonight's edition of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.
Based on Sieberg's
video preview, it sounds like a fairly comprehensive look at the uproar surrounding the game.

Sheer brilliance, not talking to Jack.
Stop doing that you idiot, I come to this site to see real post, including the real Jack Thompson comments to know what is going on.
Dennis has already banned people before for doing this nonsense.
When I come to this site, I do not want to get mixed up with who the real Jack Thompson is that is leaving a comment.
Thanks for the great Futurama reference...and I agree, they really should drop it. I'm getting tired of people freaking out to "protect the children" when it's only their views and interests that are coming into play.

I might actually watch it.
I find my increasing disdain for television media disturbing....
(Insert Star Wars joke here)
Never try that again. Ever.
That is why I have limited my television intake to only certain shows that are fictional and advertise themselves as such, not these fictional shows that advertise themselves as nonfiction.
I totally agree with you.
Bla bla bla Bully. Look where that got them!
Anyone seen the sudden surge in school bullying over the past year?
I havent!
thanks

I've seen a sidebar advert on Joystiq, but it's very non-descript, it's just an image of the cover and the name. But yes, mostly R* have hardly had to pay a dime for advertising this game, the Media and the Watchdogs have saved them a fortune, and will make them a fortune by the increased revenue all this controversy will gain them in sales.
The real irony is that the watchdogs are, apparently, too stupid to figure this out.
Ditto. I wouldn't have known of this game's existence if not for the media frenzy. I just don't look for this type of game.
Amazing.
You doubted for a moment they weren't doing this on purpose?
Or in a few decades what's the new thing they will go after?
Victory goes towards common sense, not Jack.
I don't think we will have to worry to much about this sort of thing in the decades to come. As the next generation of people, with their less oppressive moral values come to power, things that would give the current leading generation a heart attack will not phase us. Our younger generations also have a lot more tolerance for the rights and beliefs of others. This is my hope at least.
This is the closest to a decent mass media take on the subject that I've seen.
Wii Sports. Just because it comes with the system.
The second game? Manhunt 2 - out of spite and enjoyment.
Third? Resident Evil 4
Then I move onto Zelda, Rayman, Metroid, etc, in some order I haven't decided yet.
Katie Couric is still an idiot for her last line at the end the the piece about how she couldn't imagine anyone wanting to play it. I would have liked to throw back the same thing to her about certain movies that are even more disturbing about Manhunt and are more popular.
GP: One Logan Square being the location of (one of) Jack's (many) demons, the Blank Rome law firm...
He make joke, see?
Oh and in order to ensure more free publicity Rockstar needs to only do one thing: Announce the possibility of a sequel.
I understand, video games, movies, tv shows, they're all fake.
I will only accept government regulation of video games if, AND ONLY IF, the government also censors movies and television shows (even more then they do now).
Parents need to be involved. READ how to set the parental controls on their child's console, and more importantly UNDERSTAND THEY LIVE IN A FREE SOCIETY WHERE THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WHO ENJOY DIFFERENT THINGS.
If we all found the same stuff repulsive, what would we be?
Dan Rather was much better. Its a shame a some bad information he investigated ended up forcing him to retire. Dan Rather understands neutrality in media, and cherished it. He didn't try to put his own twist on it, like what Katie Couric did tonight. The only reason why the mass media gets away with horse-shit like this is because they know we're not "loud enough" in our eyes.
If CBS did an news story about how violent Saw 4, The Hills have Eyes, or other Halloween B horror films are, I'm pretty sure Hollywood would be in a fuckin' uproar.
/rant off
Yes, M rated games have violent imagery. R rated games have violent imagery. Why does this surprise you?
"Hey, there was a mass suicide at One Logan Square in Philly this evening. It appears game related."
Yeah. Good luck trying to prove a causal relationship in that situation Jack.
They weren't in the CBS piece, the images weren't "devestating", and a mass suicide that isn't on any news site?
Are you trying distraction tactics now? Fail.
The CBS article pointed out just how violent the game was, but did NOT point out if video game violence had a definite effect on people.
And then it went on to show that it was rated for 17 and older, and how to set your video game system so your kids can't play it in case they get their hands on it anyway.
Did you turn it off while you were "winning"? Oh wait, you never were -- did you turn it off while you "thought" you were winning?
All this attention on one game. Even if it was banned, it's still one game. That's only a dent in the whole gaming scene. So go off whoring to somebody else.
You point out one suicide over how many that goes on everyday?
Today we celebrate the release of the game, I wonder what life is like at certain residence in Boca Raton, Florida? It's a bitch being helpless these days!!!
-Manhunt 2 came out to less than stellar reviews.
-Manhunt 2 will lose sales because it's censored.
-Manhunt 2 will make lots and lots more money than it would have had it not garnered such widespread criticism and controversy.
At the end of the day:
-The game came out.
-Take-Two made money.
-CSM, Yee, and others recommend parents don't buy the game for an audience it's not intended for or marketed to.

As for Jackyboy, I'm surprised he posted three times here before anyone noticed. Or were you ignoring him... *shrugs* doesn't matter.
I didn't get to see it but it from what I've read here (besides thompson's diarrhea of the keyboard) it looks like it was a decent piece.

Anyone go a youtube link for those of us on the other side of the pond?
In the mean time, I wonder what other murder simulators I could play... The Sims maybe...
Jack Thomspon Attorney Says Says, someone basically copied and pasted the name from his last post and forgot that 'Says' is added automatically.
it seemed like he was watching the whole thing without sound. He should just retire.
I have a bad fealing about this.
"Take-Two has made a huge miscalculation here"
can't be any worse than Common Sense Media, who admitted to criminal activity regarding pirated software.
Let me guess who is spending most of their time here reloading the..
Take-Two has made a huge miscalculation here, and I love it.
Oh, hi Jack, enjoying the mental masturbation over the not-that-damaging coverage?
I say the only "miscalculation" is by the likes of you and Campaign for a Commercial-free Childhood who "buy" into the "Rockstar is targeting this game to kids" bull., and CSM throwing around FUD. And go ahead brining up the lame credit-card argument, when other online retailers sell stuff like moviesthat is even worse in terms of content and ratings enforcement..
While I don't quite agree with all of what he says, at least Mr. Yee sort of gets it.
As for me, this last minute media blitz probably will probably make things worse for those who oppose this game. With the hypocrites screaming about it today & probably with tomorrow's release, the whole thing will probably be quickly forgotten by Nov 1st.
He make joke, see?"
So did they kill themselves with platinum knives off all the money they are going to rake in after Jack gave them so much free publicity?
And really why would they kill themselves? They made a game which is going to sell better than it otherwise should have and they have a constitutional right to do so. The only thing that is committing suicide here is Jack upon his career.
I bet you cannot - even the adults who want to play this game, who think it should be released in its full uncut glory, know beyond the shadow of a doubt that it is a game for ADULTS, and should not be put in the hands of children.
Thus, I believe the problem here is with the companies that are against having AO games. There's no problem with movies that are given adult ratings, but games are provoking an issue. Ridiculous.

And how are you to know if those aren't just images they pulled from the interweb of the unedited version that were released several months ago? Hm?
Oh yeah. You can't prove that.
Wait a minute:
Jack the Ripper-19th century serial killer with an unnatural obsession with sex and violence
Jack Thompson-20 to 21st century lawyer who engages in unethical practices who has an unatural obsession with sex and violence
Jack Thompson, I must find out, what do you think of prostitutes?
How: Both have been completely blown out of proportion
Whitechapel: Media frenzy and public fasination about the murder of five prostitutes in a London slum at time when the murder of such people was fairly common.
Manhunt: Media frenzy and public fasination over a violent game that probably less than 98% of U.S. population will play at time in which violent media is common, tolerated, and relished in movies, television, books, and just about everything but video games.
Just a random thought on my part though
It was actually full of positive facts about the game. They seemed to know what they were talking about.
Enough said, thank you CBS...
You're right nobody named jack posts here. Instead somebody named John posts here, although his nickname is jack.
Oh and are you saying that you aren't jack thompson and are instead an imposter? I guess I'm going to have contact the real jack down in miami, boy is he going to be mad that you single handedly made him look like a fool. Or is it that you're lying (or a fake jack)?
All the more reason to just ignore any posts with his name, real or fake, and continue conversations without having to give him any more attention.
Unless Dennis marks a post as "This is really from Jack", I will no longer respond to it from this point forwards... as I hope others will do as well. Of course, I can't control others, just like Jack can't control the videogame industry.

I laugh at you people that actually believe Jack posts here
IT IS NOT JACK THOMPSON ITS MY MATE KIDDING USE ALL ON HES AN ASSHOLE
I give it 2 weeks tops.
I just spoke with the good folks at Common Sense Media again, and they’re in the CBS piece. Take-Two has made a huge miscalculation here, and I love it.
They miscalculated how much advertising money they saved by suckering CBS into advertising it for them? Complete with feigned "outrage"? You couldn't BUY that.
As Andrew said, the game was lackluster. It's sales would have tanked had it not been for all the moral outrage. Now it's a mediocre success. TT should send you a thank you card for making this title worth it's weight in gold.
The CBS images of the game were devastating. Great stuff.
Yep, scads more money saved. They got a whole news segment when everyone was riveted to the screen. And they didn't have to fork out for a single second of it.
Hey, there was a mass suicide at One Logan Square in Philly this evening. It appears game related.
And then they all hit the reset button, and laughed all the way to the bank. :)
@bakaohki
If Dennis replies to it with a GP: tag in the comment itself, it was from the REAL JT.
Except someone could fake that. Though they can't edit posts, so if you see the post first wihtout it, then with it, you can know it's real.
@ the real Jack Thompson...
I still hate you...but swatting mosquitoes comes before picking off the gum on my shoes.
The comments left regarding Manhunt 2 as "the most violent video game ever" are actually quite amusing.
we might need several anonymous accounts for the likes of us.
Well, I think some blog systems allow you to log in, and then you can choose to post anonymously. But...
Re Hannah
I remember that, for someone who hates blogs he sure went through all that trouble to make 50(+?) LiveJournal accounts.
Yeah, so all trolls need to do is re-register accounts calming to be him. I say people should do what I have been doing, just take such comments with a grain of salt and assume it isn't him.
It would be awesome if you could perfectly use the motion controller to swing weapons, shoot, pull people out of their vehicle and so on.
I just hope that they take that step to show that they are not afraid of people like Jack Thompson, and that they would have whatever they feel like having on their system for a variety of people.
I just read the comments and some of them there, especially the convenient first one shilling David "lying bastard" Grossman is just too much....
There was another fake Jack post (besides the one that's still left) at the time I posted my comment. Nice to see at least one was removed.
Did Dennis also fake the many many answering machine messages left by jack regarding Gamepolitics?
"Someone committed murder/suicide! It must eb the videogames fault!"
Dear lord, Jack you do realize murder, death and suicide have all been in existence for a lot longer then videogames right?
