The
Entertainment Consumers Association - the only advocacy group exclusively for gamers - is supporting U.S. military personnel by offering discounted membership. The military discount joins a similar program already offered to students.
Of the move ECA president Hal Halpin said:
We’re excited to extend our 25 percent Student Discount for annual membership dues to all active service men and women with a valid .mil domain extension.
It came as a result of conversations between GamePolitics regular and ECA member, Robert “lexfor” Kalal, who was promoting the association to his fellow gamers in the Air Force while stationed in Turkey.
While we’re aligned with several charities that support the troops, it seemed apparent that extending this discount was yet another way of honoring their service and dedication. The new Military Discount offers prospective members reduced dues of just $14.99 per year.

Full Disclosure Dept: The ECA is the parent company of
GamePolitics.

I am really liking the way the ECA has been going in recent days.
is it for active duty or for vetrans, because the two aren't the same.
or is it for active duty AND vetrans?
Yeah I have one and I am a contractor. I don't think I will use it for a membership as I try not to use it for personal email. I also have a valid .edu email address that I have not used since college and never used during college. I just can't be bothered to use them for anything I consider important.
What the hell do you mean I can't have it!? I'm a soldier!! Oh, I need to be an American..
1) Texas Rangers aren't part of the military, they're state police.
2) considering that's Paris Island, those would be Marine drill instructors.
3) the ECA is an american-based organization so being in the US would get you the full effect of membership. should this expand? i think it could go international, but currently not so much, it seems.
1) I know. They're also the subject of countless jokes.
2) I didn't know where it was. The hats threw me.
3) An international ECA... Save it for a rainy day.
The author of I Wanna Go Home, Karridine, has authorized me to give away 1,000 free copies of the song to our men and women in the military for personal use only. However, recipients of a free copy can let anybody listen to it if they want. Members of the military can put it on their i-pod, use it on their computer, or make one CD.
You can find out how to get a free copy at 1,000 Free Copies.
If you want a copy for review e-mail me. My e-mail address is on the sidebar.
Glad to see the ECA honoring the Military. I hope that this helps many others join sooner.
