GamePolitics Holiday Podcast Now Available!

December 23, 2007
GamePolitics has a special holiday gift for you.

Our 2007 Holiday podcast has just launched and features good cheer from two dozen assorted newsmakers and game media types.

It's been a long time since GamePolitics has released a podcast, but expect it to be a regular feature in 2008.

You can download the Holiday Podcast here (8:34, mp3 format).

Enjoy! ...and, best holiday wishes from the GamePolitics crew.

UPDATE: I've edited in the AWESOME ending supplied by longtime GP correspondent Andrew Eisen, who is a helluva singer in his other life... Bumping this up in coverage to ensure people don't miss AE's great finishing touch.

Perfect size to listen to while you're getting dressed as I'm doing.
Thanks. I wish the sound quality was better, but my sound skillz are a bit rusty and I had that Dec. 25th time crunch looming...

Still, it's fun to hear from everyone who left a greeting.
COOKIES!!! COOKIE COOKIE COOKIE COOOOOOOKIIIEEE!!!!
Now that i have that out of my system, i just now realize a pun about downloads and cookies...
Anywho, im looking forward to some decent podcasts.
Wow! S.L.Y. Sounds a lot younger than he looks. Bit of a surprise. Ok, I'll be nice and say Happy Holidays back to him too. I've said my negatives about him in the past, but they aren't as bad as some others, so I'll be nice. But don't think I'm gonna make it a habit! ;)

Dennis,
Have you looked into the "book" mentioned in the messages? Barnes & Noble says it'll be out on Tax Day. From the sounds of it, it seems appropriate to be on one of the most hated days of the year. :P

Happy Holidays to all the GOOD folks on the message AND here at GP!

Great Pod cast. Glad to hear Yee sounding out in it. Too bad John Bruce couldn't be on it wishing a Merry Christmas.
Hey Dennis can I have that Gingerbread man cookie?

It looks yummy :) .
By the way:

Merry Christmas everyone.
@EZK

Yeah almost forgot, Merry Christmas to all ;) .
That was sweet. I feel special now...

Dennis, next year we need to have a GP holiday party for charity. Just a thought.

Have a happy New Year and whatever holiday you celebrate to everyone and may next year have awesome games worthy of play.
Awesome.

Nice to see GamerDad's alright. :)

Leland Yee? Sarah Olsen? These jackasses actually bothered to contribute? Amazing.

I know what I want for Christmas; an illuminated Thompson/Yee/Olsen/Libermann/Clinton.

Happy Christmahannukkwanza to all. And to all a good night. :D
Oh, and GP is awesome. :D :D :D

That was nice, thank you, Dennis.
Happy holidays Dennis and everyone else, keep up the great work, looking forward to another year of your great reporting!
Merry Xmas from down under, where we're supposed to be going into summer and it's 12 degrees outside ...
Merry Christmas GP. :)
Aw, my Merry Xmas mesage didn't make the cut, it seems... :(
In the spirit of the season and.. so forth, i'd like to say a few words:

2007 has been one of the greatest years for gaming to date, but not the greatest for goodwill in the industry. Granted, Zelnick did save a woman's life, but that's really about it.

I think we can find it in our hearts, whether they be black, blue, pink, red or yellow, to wish each other a merry christmas and a happy new year.

However, I would also like to take this moment to wish our enemies a Merry Christmas. Why you ask? Because no Christmas should ever have to bear the hate of man upon man, woman upon woman and the like. So, in the spirit of the season, I would like to wish Jack Thompson, Yee, LaRouche, Arnie, the members of the BBFC, Mitt Romney, Hillary Clinton and everyone else i've forgotten in my semi-drunken state, a Merry Christmas.

We are enemies again come January 2nd.
Merry Christmas, everyone.

JDKJ: Which could be explained by both (a) and (b).
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:56am
Austin_Lewis: JDKJ: You forgot C) the fact that, for some reason, every time he did something that would suggest he shouldn't be in the military, let alone an officer, higher ups ignored it or let it slide.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:51am
JDKJ: Part of the problem is, I believe, that (a) the Army had a lot of time and money already invested in him and which they were unwilling to simply write-off and (b) an increasing need for the type of skills and services he provided.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:48am
JDKJ: And that even if he was begging not to get cut loose, he was apparently a real good candidate for being cut loose, anyway.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:11am
JDKJ: @chada: And while Kennedy once noted that there's usually more than enough blame for everyone to get a slice, the possibility that the Army was unwilling to cut loose someone who was asking to get cut loose could be a factor.

ZippyDSMlee: *noms on his feet*..nomnomnomnom*droooll* ...wuuutttttt uuu looking at?
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:05am
JDKJ: I'm no psychologist, but I'm told that crazy people have a tendency to do crazy things.
Posted 11/07/09 at 10:03am
chadachada321: Whoops, was out of the convo for awhile. I do wonder what type of ammo he used etc, but the real issue is WHY he did it, not HOW
Posted 11/07/09 at 09:56am
JDKJ: But if it turns out that they actually did, they'll have Hell to pay.
Posted 11/07/09 at 09:45am
JDKJ: And I'd tend to rule out the possibilty of FN Herstal supplying restricted ammunition to someone merely because they're ordering it from a military base.
Posted 11/07/09 at 09:37am
JDKJ: I know you don't leave your gated community and get around much in dark alleys, so you may be surprised to learn that there's this thing called "the black market" where, if you've got enough money, ain't too much of anything which can't be bought.
Posted 11/07/09 at 09:36am
Austin_Lewis: Or, maybe he or someone else at the base ordered the SS190 from FN Herstal.
Posted 11/07/09 at 09:32am
Austin_Lewis: the hands of private owners. They run about 300 dollars minimum for a box of 50, and boxes of AP 5.7 are extremely scarce, mainly residing in the hands of Class III stores or individuals who for one reason or another got a demo box of it.
Posted 11/07/09 at 09:30am
Austin_Lewis: There are other firearms that fire the 5.7. However, I too would like to know where he got the ammo and what kind was used. Maybe Hasan, planning not to live through this, went out and bought one the boxes of SS190 that are floating around in
Posted 11/07/09 at 08:44am
JDKJ: And it isn't yet clear what type of ammunition Hasan used. It's strange that he purchased a gun but didn't purchase ammunition for it at the same place and time. Especially because the calibre required is peculiar to the actual gun.
