Former Game Biz Exec Named in Sleazy Hollywood Trial

The name of a former video game executive has surfaced in the Hollywood wiretapping trial of private eye Anthony Pellicano.

Among others linked to Pellicano, according to the New York Times, is Robert Pfeifer, identified by the paper as ”a former music and video game executive.” From the NYT:

Robert Pfeifer… testified, under a plea agreement, that he paid Mr. Pellicano some $200,000 to wiretap a former girlfriend, Erin Finn. Mr. Pfeifer said he did so after learning she was a prostitute and after she became a witness against him in a wrongful-termination lawsuit in 2000 against the video game company Z-Axis.

Mr. Pfeifer repeatedly said he was ashamed and sorry for his actions involving Ms. Finn and Mr. Pellicano. He has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting Mr. Pellicano and is awaiting sentencing.

Pfeifer is credited as a “management” on the 1999 Rockstar title Thrasher Presents: Skate and Destroy. The game was developed by Z-Axis.

    What exactly have you done if you’ve received credit for a video game’s management. Is that like an A&R rep?

  2. PitViper401 Says:

    Damn. There’s a game I hoped would be consigned to oblivion. What ever happened to Z-Axis?

    I can’t be the only one who’s checking every 15 minutes for the next installment of “JT shoots himself in the foot,” can I?

    Man, that sucks… First you find out your girlfriend’s a prostitute (seriously, were there no clues???), then you have to pay $200K to get her phone tapped, and then you get caught for it! He’s got quite a run of bad luck going for him…

    No, you’re not the only one. ;)

    I wonder if the $200k was well spent? Did he win that wrongful termination lawsuit?

    Whenever I hear stories about crap like this my anger rises. I hate stalkers. I don’t care what she testified to, don’t dip up dirt to publicly humiliate someone just because you don’t like them personally. I wonder if he’s a Scientologist.

    @Corncobtacular
    That’s not really a good thing…
    I think it’s interesting that he’s (Robert Pfeifer) a Rockstar employee. I wonder if any anti-Take Two’ers will try and use this for negative press.

    It’s like having the producer credit in a movie. You put up the cash and let talented people do the work, big deal.
