A mate & I are getting to the shop at 8am to buy it as soon as it opens, that way we've got the maximum possible play time before real life intrudes to ruin our fun. Even contemplating getting Live Gold for a month just so we can piss about in multiplayer.
@ChrowX I’m too tired of Rockstar and all their crap to supper another game that will be praised by the game-magazine and witch-hunted by politicians. No doubt that it’s a good game, but I’m just sick and tired of the endless coverage about it.
Could you not take the time you're using to look at the love/hate coverage and use that time to instead play the game?

It's certainly grabbed my attention over the past few weeks. Even though I don't like the GTA series, this one looks like it could be good. I'll definitely rent it for the 360 at some point, but not before my long list of other games.

Need a spot for those that already downloaded the pre-released version before the poll even started. Not that I'd do that, i dont even have a 360 to mod.

PS3 version.
I know both versions will have multiplayer but I know that the 360 version will charge you to play online and nothing has been stated about charges for the PS3 version.
I am hoping they don't.
It also has not been stated that there will be a difference between the PS3 and 360 DLC versions, well, at least nothing concrete has been stated on this.
It will be interesting to see the difference between the two once released. Personally, I am very curious as to which machine will have the better benchmarks.
@Judith Iscariot
You can always buy an XFPS if you don't want to wait so you can use a keyboard and mouse on a 360 or ps3.

Frankly, it hasn't even launched and I'm rather bored with it. I guess I'm just not much of a fan of the series. Not surprising really, I never quite got the appeal.

No doubt that it's a good game, but I'm just sick and tired of the endless coverage about it. So, I'm just going to go back to playing The World Ends With You. I'll worry about GTA some other time. Chances are we'll see another one soon enough,

Meh, not paying for a console as well as my new PC this. Guess I'll just wait for the PC version, at least I won't have to put up with the stupid targeting...

Pre-ordered and ready to collect and play tomorrow :)
Previously I was expecting to have to wait as I had been told by the store that all of their pre-order units were gone, but was called up on Saturday to be told the were getting extra stock :D
Unfortunately, I think the sore throat/flu I appear to be getting may get much worse tomorrow, forcing me to stay home from work...

Add another for getting for the 360. Only annoying thing is I'll have to pick it up on the way to work tomorrow so I'll have to sit with it for 8 or 9 hours before i can get home to play it :(

Even though I'll be buying an Xbox 360 later with my tax rebate check, like a few others here, if I do buy GTA IV, I'll wait for the inevitable PC version.
Thing is, though, I'm not exactly a big fan of GTA. I got Vice City because of the whole 80's vibe with homages to Miami Vice and Scarface. I didn't even look at San Andreas as the whole gangsta/Hip-Hop angle didn't appeal to me. But when Hot Coffee broke and they started pulling the game off the shelves, I went out and bought a copy as soon as I could for the collectible value alone. To this day I still haven't played it, but I'm glad I own an initial release copy. :)
GTA IV doesn't seem to be quite as big or as epic in scope as San Andreas was, though. Sure thre graphics look nice and some aspects of gameplay - like combat for example - have been improved, but unless there's a really compelling reason for me to go out and play it (other than to spite JT), I'll pass for now. I'm more interested right now in the PC version of Mass Effect and upcoming Xbox 360 releases like Ninja Gaiden II, Brutal Legend and the recently announced Mortal Kombat Vs. The DC Universe.

I'm not sure if I'll be buying it. The hype around the game is so huge and every reviewers seem to say it's one of the best game out there but without the hype it wouldn't have been a game that appeals to me. I've played through GTA3 but only through half of Vice City and about 15 minutes of San Andreas. I hope somebody I know buys it so I can try it out before making a decision.
Submitted by mogbert - April 28, 2008 at 7:50 am -0500
I didn't pick it up. Maybe I will in the future. Right now I have pleanty of games and I did just get Mario Kart Wii. Now if only my wife would let me have some time on the Wii, I could have some fun...
Submitted by catboy_j - April 28, 2008 at 8:04 am -0500
I never liked the plots of the GTA games or the missions, and doing aimless things in the city always got boring nya, and I don't like killing pedestrians or scaring witnesses, so no buying for me.
Submitted by Archgabe - April 28, 2008 at 8:43 am -0500
I am getting the game tonight (midnight release) for no other reason than I want to play it. I will not be getting this game because of the hype, nor to spite JT, nor out of loyalty to TT (I have none) but for the simple reason that I want to play the game, beat it and move on.
GTA4 is not big enough of a deal for me to go nuts over and use the CAPS lock for awesome.

I only have a Wii, so it looks like I'll have to pass this time. Otherwise, I would. As much as I dislike Rockstars obsession with the controversial spotlight, they do make good games. I hate doing the gangster missions, but I love the freedom the cities have to offer. I love cruisin and blarin the radio, finding what pastimes the game has to offer, etc.
Submitted by lordlundar - April 28, 2008 at 9:08 am -0500
Never have been a fan of the GTA series. It just isn't a "true" sandbox game, as you either become a criminal or you do nothing. So as such, not buying.
Submitted by Guillaume - April 28, 2008 at 9:13 am -0500
Waiting for my pre-ordered special edition on PS3. Hopefully it should be there by tomorrow. GTA4 is the reason why I bought a PS3 originally (as GTA3 was the reason why I bought a PS2...)
Submitted by Eville1 - April 28, 2008 at 9:15 am -0500
There's no spot for "Not buying but getting as a gift." :D. I played the original GTA III and haven't played one since. This is the only one to get me excited about the series and even then, not overly so.
Submitted by Balance - April 28, 2008 at 9:28 am -0500
I don't have a PS3 or 360, either. I'll probably pick up the PC version when it comes out. I have to admit, though, that I'm tempted to buy it anyway--just for spite. :)
Submitted by Jahkaivah - April 28, 2008 at 9:29 am -0500
If you don't mind the criticism, wouldn't it have been better to chuck 360 and PS3 into one option and change the free option to "Waiting for the PC version"?
The two console versions are basically the same thing, while the upcomming PC version will be the one with the controversial mods.
Submitted by Questionmark - April 28, 2008 at 10:42 am -0500
Meh
I've never found much fun in the GTA games (except the randomness of the entire thing) so I won't be getting it. Glad to know that sequels are still a popular seller though.

If you don't enjoy the GTA series, there is something seriously wrong with you. Usually I'm a little more open-minded when it comes to people's tastes, but seriously. You must have really bad taste if you don't enjoy a game like GTA.

The 360 version does not 'charge you to play online'. You pay the Live fee to play all online games. One fee covers Call of Duty 4, Skate., Rock Band, Gears of War, GTA4, etc... all online games.
Submitted by Mark - April 28, 2008 at 1:12 pm -0500
No, dont have a PS3 nor a 360 and wont buy the possibly PC version, as it seems that Valve is not selling any GTA game any more on Brazil (through Steam) nor any Ubisoft game. SAD

I'll be waiting for PC version as well. My arthritic hands cannot utilize a controller, my hands cramp up after just a few minutes of use so I do not even own a console any more. But I can use a keyboard and mouse a few hours at a time.

I bought mine in honor of Jack's impending disbarment.
but it will be mine(on the 360) eventualy!
btw. What sidebar? Did GP forget to create it or is it something lame like an ie7 specific activex control?
I still say MK vs DC would have saved the series... ten years ago. Right now it just seems... ugh.
The multiplayer modes alone will make this staple on XBox Live.
I am so glad that the 360 version is confirmed to have 2 downloadable content packs.
GTA 4 is the main game I have been wanting this year out of all those other great games coming out this year.
Yeah, I tend to agree. Why didn't they do this earlier when Capcom was doing games with Marvel? Oh well, better late than never.
GEARS OF WAR 2 BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Getting in first thing tomorrow morning.
Not buying because I don't have a PS3/360.
Will buy for PC upon it's release.
I've never been a major fan of GTA series, but if I get to kill an "unnamed" Miami lawyer, it might be worth it.

I'll eventually get the game most likely. If nothing else to know the sale will push good 'ole JT one step closer to the edge of his sanity.
Just picked up my SE pre-order, with the kickass bag and safe :)
These trinkets will go a long way towards mitigating the crushing dissapointment I felt when I heard I'd be getting a censored version :(
Sorry you have to take the chopped version. :(
