Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for Bail Money

Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for Bail Money

June 6, 2008

A New Hampshire man sold his 4-year-old's video game equipment and games in order to make bail of drug charges, reports the Portsmouth Herald News.

Police allege that Bobby Hemingway, 27, sold $200 worth of crack to an undercover officer recently. Hemingway told the Court he is self-employed and owns a recording studio.

What a complete jerk! He should sell his own things to make bale.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Hey the kid will live without the videogame equiptment,

Im sure he appreciates his fathers company much more.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

And now cue people like Jack Thompson saying that this man is a hero for getting his son off killer games before it did any real damage.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Hahaha, I haven't even read the word "Grue" in ages, brings me back, good stuff. As far as the article goes, it's pretty despicable, but hey, isn't the point of getting a kid a backup-life anyway?

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Someone tell homeboy that owning a double-deck cassette machine doesn't qualify as owning a recording studio.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

$200 worth of crack?  That's a lot considering how cheap that stuff is, so I've heard.

EZK: Snip.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

That stinking drug dealing bastard >:(.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Damnit, I just turned GTA4 off, now I feel the need to go & squish someone again...

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

At least you can turn yours by choice.  Mine freezes up and forces me to turn it off.  Thanks microsoft for not even acknowledging thousands of people that have the same problem.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

I'm not too sure how to feel about this as chances are the gaming equipment would have likely been bought with drug money to begin with.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

If it was bought with drug money, it wasn't the kid's fault, and it really doesn't help the guy's case any, as it shows a level of disregard for his family.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

I have to wonder what qualifies as "video game equipment".  The kid was 4, that seems pretty young for an xbox/ps..

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Sheez, that guys my age.

What a douche.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

If I had the choice between my video games and getting my dad out on bail, I would sell the games every time.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

True, but I wouldn't choose to sell my own child's toys to cover my own bail, there's a slight difference ;)

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

And the award for Biggest Douche in the Universe goes to.........

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Firstly his child is 4? I'm eighteen and I probably wouldn't have that much money if I sold every video game equipment I had to pay bail wtf did his toddler have?

Secondly whats the relevance? Bad parenting?

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Agreed.. the kid at 4 probably wouldn't have a clue how to play games. I got my PS1 aged 9 and if that was now, I certainly wouldn't be racking up the frags on CoD4.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

I don't know...raising money for a  $5000 bail by selling a 4 year old's game system and games? Must be one huge dora the explorer collection.

Isn't it a bit more likely that this might be a small case of a reporter being out of touch with the world at large, looking at the guy's age and reading 'child's toy' where it says video game system?

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

That Kinda sounds a bit more plausable then a four year old with a PS3 or xbox 360 or whatever, and a library of T and M rated games, though with parents you never know these days.

That's just cold...
Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

You know, this is one of those things that really annoys me... why is this news? Why is it on an internationally read videogame blog?

I just hate the way that these stories always seem to have legs just because the words "video game" are mentioned in the headline. Would the article specify the articles stolen, and would the story be repeated if it said "Lego collection" or "stereo and DVDs" were stolen? Probably not.

An article of value was stolen and sold for drugs. It happens every day, why does the fact it's games make it special? It's this kind of dumb reporting that makes the general public believe Jack Thompson's ramblings.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

Look at tit this way. Dennis gets the story, reports it as is.

Another new outlet gets it, say, Fox, and what could easily come out is "video gamers are cracks addicts" or" drug dealer's son sells gamign gear to buy crack from father."

May as well get it this way ourselves before we're fed bullshit.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for

The guy's no hero, but you can hardly say that it's pure disregard for his kid to sell the equipment.  First, the kid's 4, he's probably barely even able to appreciate that amount of video games.  Second, the guy did it to pay bail and go home so that he could be there to care for the kid when his girlfriend was at work, and the prosocuter didn't even raise an objection.  Being there for your family is more important than the material things, even if they are video games.  That being said, it is pretty doubtful that anyone dealing crack is a particularly good father, but I think it's the crack that's more of an issue, and not the games.

Re: Crime File: Drug Suspect Sells Son's Video Game Gear for
I guess that video game was bought with the money he made selling drugs. That's ironic. Too bad for the 4 year old. ____ Johanna Bartley, Drug Treatment Center Volunteer.
