Jack Thompson will be featured in an interview on the July 24th episode of the normally light-hearted Jace Hall show.
We don't think this one will be a walk in the park, however. The segment, according to Thompson, was filmed in a video game store in Salt Lake City. The likely-to-be-disbarred attorney was there recently to be honored by America's Freedom Festival. Why Thompson was feted remains a mystery, as officials of the festival have not responded to our requests for information.
As to Thompson's Jace Hall appearance, the show apparently provided two brief clips to Thompson, who forwarded them to GamePolitics (sorry, we have no clearance to make them generally available). Here's the dialogue:

Jace Hall: Having created mature-rated video games myself, and just listening to you, effectively I'm one of the damned, apparently.
Jack Thompson: Yes... permanently

Jace Hall: Now that you've had a chance to talk to me, do you think of me as some bad guy who's trying to hurt children?
Jack Thompson: No, I don't think of you, Jason, as a bad guy. I think of you as pure evil, and there's a special room in Hell for you...
GP: If you're not familiar with Jace Hall, he is co-founder of Monolith and a former VP at Warner Brothers. He has a long list of game projects to his credit.

Thompson does indeed share several simmalarities with Adolph Hitler. Mostly it's how they twisted the Bible to fit their crusades.

I think comparing him to Hitler is giving way too much credit to Jack. Hitler was a truely evil person who caused the death of countless innocents. Thompson is just a crazy lawer who passive-aggressively attacks those (and anyone close to them) he believes are evil. There is no need to try to discredit him because he does it himself.
The best thing we can do is just ignore him like any other crazy person with a "The end is nigh" sign.
Wasn't that part of why they sent the Marshals after him, because they're afraid he's going to snap and go Postal soon?

Wow. Just wow. This is a classic example of almost everything i thought about Thompson up until the last year or so. (when he expanded that disgust even further, month by month) The reason why we keep hearing about him, here or otherwise, is the same reason we keep hearing about evangelists like Fred Phelps, etc, etc: they hate everybody and are abusing and perverting the texts that they say they're preaching.
That said, i've never heard of this 'Jace Hall Show.' Bet he'll brag about this too, like its a dream for all the 'kiddies' of the nation to achieve.
Looking at the Moby games list, the vast majority of games there are E to T games..... O_o
You pretty much hit the nail on the head there. Christians of Jack's stripe just love to split the moral hairs. It's that "Hate the sin, not the sinner," mindset. They never consider those of us who engage in lifestyles or activities they don't like or agree with as "bad" and they never say they outright "hate" us. But they sublimate it within their own faith by condemning us saying we are "damned" and "going to Hell," which in my book basically is the same as if they said they hated us personally. That's why Jack never thinks what he is doing is wrong and believes he is justified in everything he does; he compartmentalizes it in his own head according to his faith.
So to sum up, Jack is still an evil, hateful man, but, he can justify what he is doing as "good." This is why I have often compared him to Jim Jones, David Koresh and other religous freaks, as they did horrible, monstrous things in the name of their faith and never hestitated for a second in thinking it might be otherwise.
Actually instead of hating the sin and not the sinner, he does both spectacularly. He does hate the "sin", but demonizes the "sinner" for indulging in the "sin". Religious people like Jack have their hearts in the right place (kinda), but their heads' have fallen asleep and need to wake up. He attempts to justify his actions through religion, even though doing so almost soils the freedom of religion given to us by the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment (which, strangely enough, protects all the other rights he abuses and claims that others have no right using) (sorry, other people from around the world; Jack's actions may affect the world, but they're definitely causing more of an impact nearer to the source
).
So, yes, blackmanta, Jack has definitely done wrong. He's trying to do right, but he's failed at it miserably, and really doesn't want to admit it. Plus, you forgot about Jerry Falwell (it doesn't matter if he's dead, he still counts) and that one guy who made out with Falwell on that one Family Guy episode in the hypothetical "end-of-the-world" scenario.

That said, I've had a similar experience. However, it has nothing to do with the show, Jace Hall himself, or Jack Thompson so no bashing me for going off-topic.
I was wearing a Golden Snitch necklace (I clipped the wings and made holes for a bit of rope to go in) and some dude came up to me during lunch time (I was at school) and told me I was going to Hell, and that Harry Potter is the Devil, bullshit like that. I was seriously pissed off. I salute Jace Hall for keeping his cool while Jack was spewing his regular shit. Hats off, boys!

I didn't realize Jace Hall was Jason Hall until the part about his being with Monolith and WB.
To be fair, has done so many wrongs that a single circle in hell isn't enough for him. I'd give him a Fourth Circle (squandered the posessions of others with his stupid anti-game laws), a Fifth (Wrath should be Jack's last name, look at what he spewed at so many people, the only thing left is for him to act on his wrath), a Seventh (for the violent), Eighth (bolgia 4 for false prophet, since he clearly think he's jesus or something like that; bolgia 5 for corrupt politician, specially barrator, which is defined as bringing repeated lawsuits only to harrass. That's pure jack.; bolgia 6, for hypocrites, no need to comment; bolgia 8, for fraudulent advisors; bolgia 9, for sowers of discord; bolgia 10, various falsifiers such as perjurers) and finally, a Ninth, round 2 for a traitor of his country (as in my belief, his disregard of the constitution is a betrayal against his country).
So, in the end, there's so much wrong with jack that all hell will want a piece of him. Certainly they have a way to stretch him over every circle.

Religions jump the shark once they promote competition against other religions. So most of the time, this happens right when the rules of the religion are being established. Because seriously, try enforcing morals in a competitive setting and don't tell me it's easy. A religion that hasn't jumped the shark won't have anyone abusing their faith.

Jack, assuming you've actually read your Bible, you do realize that it is not our providence to say who is and who is not going to be in Hell right? We can talk to people about the consequences of their actions and what certain things entail, but nowhere does the Bible say that we can tell someone that they're going to hell. That's called judgement and that particular judgement is the providence of God. Yeah, if it's fairly obvious that he was trying to be funny when he said those things, then this is exactly the sort of mischaracterization that he frequently, and usually incorrectly, accuses Gamepolitics of. However, if he just deadpanned it, then it's own fault, regardless of his intent.

Yeah, Dennis could you sort of confirm this? Even though it can still be open to interpritation, and the clip could end too soon to tell, it would be nice to know.
I preemptively did a "given the little info" bit on my post below, but knowing such stuff he has said and done in the past makes me feel it was the serious route. One such good example, see his disbarment hearing, especially that one bit where he compares some law office to molesting and shoving porn to minors just because they didn't give him an instant phone call.
Then again, even if he is joking, he probably means it given countless examples like above.

When you follow a religion to a level of blind pursicution, that is what we call extremist. Using "the word of god", many people in the past and present do things that, in effect, would go against what they believe in. But its ok though, because in there eyes, we are not human beings, we are "pure evil" like devils and whiches ... and I would not be surprized if in the depts of his mind, Jack wants to torch gamers and game developpers just like people did to witches long ago. Kinda reminds me of the Silent Hill movie ... people lost in faith, and out of tune with reality.
Putting that next to the message from the movie "The Mist", religion and belief is required ... but only to a certain point. Loose yourself in religion and you will commit murder in the name of youre god ... follow logic too strictly and you may loose everything.
With the way he treats people and gamers, its clear which side of the fence Jack falls into. Can religion be shown in court? yes ... to a certain point, and I don't think extremist falls within that, and unfortunatly, its because of this that most of his "bad behavior" comes from.
I am not against Jacks core goal (trying to make sure youth don't get access to games that are above there age) though I still believe that there are other ways then law enforcements ... but the way he treats the law (court, layers, etc) as well as how he says he doesn't want to censor or ban games, yet he has tryed to do so in the past, and his attitude towards all gamers ... is just not acceptable. A few gamers are extremists just like there are a few christian extremist ... don't blame the comunity, blame the individual ... which is why I blame Jack, and not christianity.
So in the end, I do hope to god Jack looses his law licence for good. Free speach is a right, but if you use it abusively, it should be taken away ... with his 10+ years of what seems like harasment towards multiple people inside and outside the courts, there's no doupt in my mind that the recomended disbardment the judge recommended is required, but I'd also like to see a ruling requirering Jack Thompson to give a bublic appoligy for every lawyer, judge, research institution, game developper and gamer that he did/may have offended.
P.S. Sorry if there's some bad grammar or miss-spelling ... I'm french Canadian and english is my second language. So as an extra note, I was offended when Jack ignorently proclaimed "english is the best of all languages" in his written complaint. English is a very good language with its high point, but to say its the best is an insult to all others, especialy when his reason for saying so is that english is a clear and consyst language, yet Jack seems to have many issues of miss-interpratation ... Denis, in regards to the freedom festival info requests and more, should know all about this.
To the apology thing, no, I don't want the courts to make him publicly apologize, as it will be compltely meaningless. Unless he himself does it out of his own good will(provided there is any room left for it next ot his ego) without a court order then I do NOT want to hear an apology from his lying ass amnd if I do I will not accept it.

Wasn't heaven described as "under the light of sever suns?" Because that would make it decidedly uncomfortable in terms of temperature. Hell only has the temperature of molten sulphur, which compared to what heaven is having is a lot cooler.
yep, the temperature of the sun seven-fold is more than enough to reduce sulphur to a gaseous state, and last time I checked, molten means "liquefied by heat; melted" or IOW, reduced to, and limited to, liquid

I sincerely doubt he's a Christian. The Bible says that true faith will be evident by the things that you do because of the Holy Spirit dwelling in you and if you routinely sin without remorse, which he is doing, then your faith is dead and worthless. He's just hiding behind the Bible to justify his actions. I know that not all atheists are condescending like Richard Dawkins and the rest of the Four Horsemen, but they're certainly the ones you hear about most. Same goes for "Christians."
Now then, on to the article. Honestly, I can see him slipping off the deep end and not even bothering to sound civil anymore in a TV interview. I just can't wait to see him disbarred and completely and utterly discredited by everyone. Except Fox News.

Ok just going from what little info we are given, even looking back at Monolift, the only titles that stick out are F.E.A.R, AVP, and the OLD Blood games that not even Jack probably remembers.
A lot of his credits list him on children games, so apparently if you produce or are part of a company that makes even one "mature" you are condemmed to hell... Wonder if he feels the same about "R-rated" movies... Or those who spend their time browsing and submit gay porn to publically accessable court documents as "evidence."

I remeber when there used to be some challenge to this. So sad.
I don´t know why there are some people who talk about Hell like they knew it personally or like they don´t have any possibility of sin to be in there.
People like Jack Thompson is destroying faith and religious believes for this generation. Is not the material possesions´fault, is people like Jack who make us to stay away from the idea of God.

Man, that Jace Hall sure has a large amount of tolerance. If I was in his situation, I would've told him to shut up. But then, I'd be stooping to Jack's level. Either way, JT will be the one who'll get punished
Jason didn't do this episode to try and lighten Jack's heart or change his mind or to glean any new information about Jack that we don't already know.
He did it to further bury him...
When you watch this episode, Jason will come across as a personable, normal, good human being. You'll like him, relate to him, and understand him. But then... when Jack reacts to him as Jack usually does, Jack is going to wind up looking like the moron that he is.
Jack might as well have called up Penn and Teller and asked to be the subject of an episode of Bullshit.
And the beauty of it all is...
Jason doesn't ever have to fire a shot at Jack. He doesn't ever have to sling an insult. He doesn't even have to disagree with him or debate him. He simply has to be a nice guy and let Jack destroy himself... and you know he will. By simply conducting himself like a warm and honest person, he draws the stark contrast of Jack's insanity, and the job is done...

God is God's name alone. Those who do anything in his name are the sinners and devils. The wolf in sheep's clothing if you will.
Its funny, for all of the compassion god speaks about, you surely don't follow his core beliefs enough. With one hand you hold the sword of hate and with it you strike down those who do not follow your beliefs. In the other hand you hold the veil of hypocrisy, saying how we are the ones going to hell and we'll be damned, and yet you're the one himself who has been committing more grevious errors while trying to attach God to whatever it is your arguing about.
You can try and dress up your actions with eloquent words and descriptions, but in the end everybody can see through the thin-veil that is your pathetic attempts to force people into accepting your ideals at the expense of everything.
I swear I've read somewhere that God is about love and compassion.. anybody want to verify that for me? :)

Wait a second. Where the hell are you going with that? That would mean that even Saint Paul is a sinner/devil because he once cast out a devil "in the name of Jesus" and it came out. Are you saying that it was actually Satan's power that cast that devil out? Seriously, dude, pick your words with a little more care.
