Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

Following last week's news that Silent Hill: Homecoming has become the latest video game to run afoul of Australian censors, GUComics couldn't resist poking fun at Down Under politics...

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

So they're rugged and all, but show them a violent video game and they go from the New England Patriots to the London Silly Nannies?  From "I'll wrestle this here croc with both my arms tied behind my back" to "oh dear, those men are quite large in stature"?

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

Maybe there simply isn't enough croc wrestling in video games for them?

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

I'm sure stuff like this gets pointed all the time, but maybe they'd be more comfortable if somebody made a video game that involved raping and genociding the indigenous population.

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

LOL great comic.

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

Jack Thompson would sell his soul to get this type of censorship. luckily he's disbarred permanently come october 25th!

Jesus Jack Jones Thompson.... is dead... (funeral udruge, followed by Celebrate :D )

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

October 30th is the day of his disbarment. :)

When will Aussie gamers learn to stand up for themselves?

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

They are growingly doing so very rapidly actually.  I expect 2 years until this will be changed where their people can choose for themselves instead of being treated like babies.

While I am making bets, can I put my money on Oct. 14, 2011 for when McCain will keel over?  If we go broad with months then I will take the whole month of October though if he becomes president or not.  Not to be mean, just given medical stats and such.  It has to be a death not caused by an individual or group of people though.  This is the main reason I am not voting for him, I have a strong feeling he will keel over in 3 years, and there is no way in hell that Palin is qualified to be president.

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

Not to nitpick, but isn't the jack jumper ant an ant?  You know, hence the name, jack jumper ANT?

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans
Just so I can fix my mixup before on the other post, let me say this.

Each day that passes, is a day closer to when Michael Atkitson is booted from office when he losses his seat in the next South Australian State Election,

or if South Australia choses Liberal instead of Labour that will also be another possibility.

Labour in Victoria and Queensland are ok since those States support Videogames and how they give funding to their Developers from their states.

Also I just got DeBlob from EB Games and it was made by Blue Tongue Studios, awsome game made by the Aussie Developer.

So yeah, Aussie Gamers and Developers push hard for that R18+ rating because we really need it

Re: Cartoon Lampoons Aussie Game Bans

I find it interesting how there is no rabid defense of Australia's actions towards the gaming industry in comparison to the UK stories.

d.vel.oper: @sql: I'm assuming we're talking about more here than just endpoint compression?
