Wondering how long it is until Jack Thompson's court-ordered disbarment becomes effective?
Wonder no more.
Longtime GamePolitics reader E. Zachary Knight (who is so dedicated that he volunteers for double duty as our comment moderator) has created a nifty extension for FireFox which counts down the time until Thompson's law career is just a bad memory.

Or, you know, you could just check the date, write it down or set an alarm for it in Windows/OS whateverthehell/Linux. Or in Outlook/Eudora/Gmail.
But that's just me. If you want an extension then go for it :) Kudos for taking the time to create it EZ.

Check back in the next 2 days. There will be an update that fixes the timer so that it shows the right countdown for you. Right now it may not work right if you are ahead of eastern time.

But... what if he tried to go into politics after this?
He may be more dangerous with a 'dead' legal career than with a 'live' one, heh. We need a GTA mod that has a timer + a fireworks display when this is 'final'.
But, as a tribute - I will spend that entire evening playing GTA.
He'll cause trouble still, that's for sure, but he can't do politics. Being disbarred like this is a Guilty verdict - in the eyes of the law, he is officially a liar, a bully, unethical, and someone who has been found to be completely untrustworthy with no signs of remorse.
While that does apply to many politicians, we have an official court document certifying those attributes as undeniable facts - real politicians don't get caught!
How could he compete when his opponent could simply refute anything statements Jackie makes with "You have been found guilty of gross incompetence, unethical conduct, and repeatedly lying to government officials - why should we believe anything you say now?"
I've got nothing but respect for EZK, but I hope you didn't waste too much time making this. Jack isn't worth it anymore.
Nah, not to much time. It took maybe 4 hours, but most of that was learning to make FF extensions, something I wanted to do anyway but lacked motivation. This just gave me an excuse to do what I was putting off.
By the way, I fixed the timer bug, now it should show the proper amount of time left.

Oh, and I LOVE how he screams about how his Rights are violated because he, supposedly, can't choose his own attorney (because of the order preventing him from filing his own documents) BUT he demands that the Florida Bar be denied the Right to have the attorney THEY choose for themselves.

Of course, the video game consumers were responsible for Jack's career self destructing. Not at all was it because of his own disregard for ethics or rules. Lack of compassion when harassing and trying to destroy his "opponents" just for jollies.
I think Jack is too stupid to realize it is too late to point fingers at someone else when he is blatantly at fault for his current predicament. Oops, what was that? Found guild of 27 of 31 counts of misconduct....INCLUDING lying in court and to officers of the court? Heh yep, totally the video game companies and the consumers.
Oddly enough his accusations at GP and Hal are unwarranted :P Dennis merely reported that EZK made a Jack Thompson disbarrment counter. GP and the ECA were not involved at all...and when is it illegal for EZK to make a fun counter for something true and will happen in a little under three weeks? :D
@GP: Think he'll ever clue in that the ECA means Entertainment CONSUMERS Association, and not the ESA? I mean he does accuse you of in league with the companies on a daily or weekly basis (for this I assume...) when you haven't exactly been pro-ESA for sometime now :P
Only Jackie (since the passing of the disbarment, i no longer think its required i address him as Mr. Thompson anymore. That was the only form of respect i was giving him because he was still, in actuality, a lawyer) would think an internet counter would be a threat on his life. Because he knows JUST how the internet works, like Dennis' 'ads,' and his own hypocrisy by not allowing himself to respond in the comments section on his own.

That's great, EZK. I understand why you did it, too. I basically made my website for my students as an excuse to learn HTML.
If you want to extend this little project of yours, it'd be great if you could make it customizable. You know, so that once Jack IS gone we can still play with it.
Also, so you know, I went into the options to see if it WAS customizable, and it has now gotten the add-ons window stuck. Something else to goof around with.
