BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack Thompson's Appeal

April 20, 2009 -

Without comment, the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear Jack Thompson's appeal of his lifetime disbarment.

The justices considered Thompson's argument as well as dozens of other cases during their private conference on Friday. The Court's rejection of Thompson's appeal can be found in today's list of orders. Mention of Thompson's case is limited to a single line under a long list of cases for which the Court declined to grant Certiorari.

The Supreme Court's decision almost certainly ends Thompson's fight to have his permanent disbarment overturned. As GamePolitics reported, the anti-game activist was disbarred for life by the Florida Supreme Court in September of 2008 for 27 counts of professional misconduct.

We have contacted Thompson for comment but have not yet received a response.

UPDATE: Thompson comments:

No surprise...

In response to [GamePolitics'] speculation that "the... decision almost certainly ends Thompson's fight to have his permanent disbarment overturned," - Not at all. I have four more options, all better than this one.  This was the longest of shots.  All four of the others are much, much shorter shots.  Stay tuned.  As Winston Churchill implored:  "Never give in.  Never, never, never, never, never."

Didn't Bush appoint 2 of the Justices, including the Chief Justice? IIRC, the Court has a Conservative slant at this time...

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

What other options? The Supreme Court is the highest in the country, if they say no, there is no other option.

Not that it really matters, but Thompson's got one too many "nevers" in there.

Hey you know our jackie, guess he was just trying to one-up Churchill.

What else is there to do when your ego writes checks to big for all of reality to cover?

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

So this update from JT is basically saying that he's an idiot? According to him he has 4 other options that are much better than this one and much easier to pull off, yet he tried this first?

That's like if you need money and you could just put a second mortgage on your house, but instead he tries to sell his body on a street corner.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

As always, Jack has "them right where he wants them".  He's just full of hot air, and I doubt any of his attempts to get his law license back are of any merit.

Let's not forget how many times Jack has made a big deal out of insignificant things like sending a letter:

- When he said that Bioshock's TV commercial (that aired on WWE) was the proof he needed and would destroy Take Two.  This amounted to a letter to the FCC, which surely ended up on a pile of other useless correspondence they get every day.  Jack talked this letter up as if TT was going to be destroyed in mere days.  Nothing happened over this.

- Jack was going to destroy the AG of Utah and spoke as if his fate was surely sealed.  In truth, Jack wrote a letter to a non-existient "porn czar" and sent it to someone working under the AG.  Nothing happened despite Thompson's claims.

- The whole Loyalty Oath nonsense was supposed to be Jack's sure-fire win against the Bar.  He guaranteed that he would be victorious.  Nothing happened.

- Jack "promised" us that he would have President Bush on the stand testifying before his disbarment trial.  Whatever.

- He was certain that Penny Arcade! was going to be shut down and the founders arrested.  He sent a fax to the wrong law enforcement agency, and yet still promised us his imminent victory.

The man has NOTHING in his arsenal that will get him his law license back and he is doing his standard lying & grandstanding.  Plus, what would happen if Jack should win?  It would create a situation where lawyers can be as unethical and horrible as they choose without any body overseeing the profession.  Nobody is going to let that happen.

It's over for Jack's legal career.  Anything he says otherwise is a lie- how typical of him.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Not at all. I have four more options, all better than this one.

Lemme guess: President, Vice President, Senate, House of Rep.s.

*Phbt* Yeah, right. It's over, Thompson. You lost. Accept it, and move on.

Well it's a red "X" inside of a white box obviously.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

My question is, if this was "the longest of shots," why would you go with that option first? Wouldn't you go with the options that are more likely to get you results first?

It just seems to make sense that, if he really cared about getting to be able to practice again, he would go with the options that would yield the best results in the fastest manner...

...But I guess that requires logic...

*EDIT* This is all in addition to the obvious stuff that has already been stated by other comments (What 4 options, you've lost, go cry yourself to sleep, etc.)

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

You know, when I read the part about there being four, better, "shorter-shot" opportunities for him to get his license back, for some reason I thought of the scene in PeeWee's Big Adventure when PeeWee Herman falls off his bike while doing some crazy stunt and, after getting up and dusting himself off, says to the shocked crowd around him, "I meant to do that."

Oh the Irony here, 10 years ago Thompson started his stupid little crusade and now it's been put to rest for good. I just hope Jack lets the victims of Columbine rest in peace instead of digging up the bodies so he can rape them for more attention.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack ...

Jack Thompson´s next options:

10. Time Travel

9. Gay Porn

8. Start a cult

7. Join to Taliban

6. Join to Scientology

5. Get a job on McDonalds or alike (most realistic option)

4. Kill SCOTUS fax machine

3. Gay porn (again)

2. Make a deal with Satan

1. Keep pretending he is a (good) lawyer, or King of the World...

Oh, fuck, seriously?

Looks like I need to give the Epoch back to Belthasar for safekeeping when Jack tries to "save the future" by destroying the laws that get in his way (depicted as Lavos) and replacing them with laws banning even the very existence of video games, which will be referred to from then on as "murder simulators" and other shit that makes him supreme everything of all Creation.

I have a vivid imagination. Or it might be that I've been filming a confrontation scene using "Magus Confronted" and the part of the pre-Fiendlord Battle dialogue in which the song plays as a base. My voice may be a bit hoarse from yelling at the top of my voice "COME, IF IT IS DEATH YOU SEEK!!!" as the end of the whole thing. BTW, I did not get in trouble for it.

PM me if you want the details. I won't post them here.

You mean there are four (count that 4) better options than the Supreme Court of the United States? The court with the highest ranking of all courts in this country? I am curious to see exactly what those 4 better options are. Throw me a bone if anyone has one. Or four.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

I bet he's planning to move to the U.K. and team up with Vaz on something.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Actually Jack has publically stated that he has a very low opinion of Vaz.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

 Well let's see...

He's got, get the Florida Legislature to overturn the idea of the state bar.  Which considering every state legislature member is advised by at least one Florida Bar member I am sure this will go far.

Sue for the unconstitutionality of the Florida Bar in Federal Court, because we they are unconstitutional for some reason.    Considering the SCotUS has it's own Bar which you must be admitted to in order to give oral arguments before the court, this one will also go far.

Submit to and take another state's bar exam.. Utah would be his best bet given he could probably use the Eagle Forum to put pressure on that State's bar to admit him despite his permaban in Florida.

Some how get the Florida Supreme Court impeached and state the justices had a vendetta against him and get the new justices to overturn the disbarment.

Come on EZK those are all MUCH better options than the US Supreme Court.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Most legislators are also practicing lawyers as well, meaning they would also be members of that very same Florida Bar, so that definitely won't get far. Scratch that one off of the list, and also scratch adding an amendment to the Florida state Constitution to disolve the Florida Bar as well for that same reason.

Also, 48 of the 50 states(except for California and Maine) have adopted the American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct either in whole or in part. Those rules state that disbarment in one state is grounds for disbarment everywhere else. So even if he were to pass another state's Bar exam, he wouldn't qualify for a license in those states.

Geaux Saints, Geaux Tigers, Geaux Pelicans. Solidarity for the Saints = No retreat, no surrender. 2013 = Saints' revenge on the NFL. Even through the darkest days, this fire burns always.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

That's if the Eagle Forum hasn't abandoned him.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

I agree the Flordia Legislature is probably a dead end for him. He has made enemies with most of them.

He has tried repeatily to sue the Florida Bar, and has been rejected a many times.

As for taking the bar exam in Utah, the Eagle Forum pretty much doesn't support him anymore. Gayle Ruzicka (sp?) was pretty much disgusted by his bombarding of every Utah Legislature member, pictures of the bikini girls from GTA4, ordering them to "silence this pornography!"

As for the last option...that is a shot in the dark from 10 kilometers away in high wind.

Pretty much, this was Jack's best option....and it was rejected.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

I was thinking the bar exam was an option.  Granted he couldn't practice law in Florida and hopefuly many other states would deny him but I'm sure there is a bar somewhere that he can get back on.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

So apparently Jack has these four "magic" options.  I am honestly curious to just what those options are.  I mean seeing as he never took advantage of the most logical option during the disbarment procedings.  You know to try and defend himself against the charges against him.  Not once did he ever try to deny anything he did.  Rather instead he tried to attack the unrelated actions of Judge Tunis and others.

-Ultimately what will do in mankind is a person's fear of their own freedom-

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Or (better option) admit to his mistakes and apologize. Then, if things went bad for him, he could've sucked it up, taken it like an adult, and moved on.

Well he did refer to 4 more (shorter pathed) long shots.  I guess trying to inveigle god has to be on that list.  Besides god owes him for not having brought the fire and brimstone down on Rockstar/T2.  (sarcasm)

Seriously though I wonder if he thinks he acutally has friends in goverment.  Could he think his ace in the hole is Security of State Clinton who he claims owes him for grooming her for success?  That begs a even more amusing question.  How could he train anyone to win when he himself is overflowing with fail.  Maybe he is the anti-rep.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

Knowing him EZK, it will be something like this.

Long shot 1- Harp on a school shooting

Long shot 2- Do something completly unethical and unmoral

Long shot 3- Attempt to sue the supreme court

Long shot 4- march around DC with a sign trying to get a protest started

All four are full of fail which he has yet to realize. I'll give him credit for not giving up but at this point he should have raised his white flag. To go beyond this blow is insane and just downright destructive for what is left of his carreer.

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

You lose.

Reality/////////////////////////////////////Fantasy. Seems like a pretty thick line to me...

Re: BREAKING - U.S. Supreme Court Declines to Hear Jack

I find myself vaguely curious if he's going to try and argue that the Supreme Court is in league with Strauss Zelnick. Setting aside jokes about him appealing to God, the next logical step is to take his shenanigans to the other branches of government. I doubt very much that Senor Obama has allot of time for Jack-of-the-hill-people.  So logically speaking, I suspect he'll take his crusade to congress now.

Hey, yeah, that's right! Today's April 20th, the day of the Columbine massacre!

Wow...Ten years ago, Thompson started this stupid little anti-video-games crusade, and ten years later, the Supreme Court put the final nail on his legal career's coffin. So much for avenging the victims, eh, Mr. Thompson?
