In an interview with GameIndustry.biz PopCap Games' Chief Creative Officer Jason Kapalka said that the rapid growth Facebook has enjoyed in the last few years may be coming to an end. He cites trends that have occurred in once-popular segments such as mobile and casual, which eventually saw a decline as they became over-saturated with games.
Naturally Kapalka isn't worried that his company will take a huge hit should the popularity of Facebook games dwindle because PopCap has its fingers in many segments. Here's more from Kapalka:
"You're definitely in the stage right now in social games where there's a lot of bandwagon jumping, where everyone sees moneymoneymoney and suddenly all these new companies appear...
"It happened before in mobile, it happened before in casual – in the past it's tended to signal the beginning of the end. Not necessarily of the genre, but of the sort of golden era, where everything was a fresh blue ocean.
He also added that casual games have won the hearts and minds of the mainstream:
"Anyone can look around now, they look on their iPhone, they look on Facebook or at the Nintendo Wii. It's pretty obvious that casual has kind of won, casual is the new mainstream."

Re: PopCap: Facebook's Golden Era Almost Over
The only good game to play of Facebook is Bejewel Blitz, which is made by PopCap. Everything else on FB seems kind of dull to me.
