Engadget points out a Nintendo patent that is geared more towards housewives and house husbands than gamers. - a shopping list app for the DS.
Nintendo of America has applied for a patent describing an "in-store wireless shopping network using hand-held devices."
This would allow DS users to track such mundane items as milk, eggs, salsa, etc. What fun. Apparently, there is some system for tracking the items on your list, making navigation in the store easier. Yes, those signs above every isle are bullsh*t.
The idea of using the DS for something other than gaming is not anything new for Nintendo: it’s Cooking Guide app was as far removed from gaming as this shopping list idea is.

Re: The DS as a Glorified Shopping List
Just... give us... a notepad app.
We don't need anything fancy (dunno if one already exists).
Just... give us... a freakin'... notepad app!
