According to a report on Massively (by way of The Escapist), EA's Mythic Games division has shut down three more Warhammer Online servers. Players will receive free transfers to other servers if they currently have any characters on the affected entry points into the virtual world. Two U.S. servers and one Germany-based server will be closed down, and the population of those servers will be rolled into existing realms.
As a rule, when games begin to see a steady drop-off of subscribers, developers and publishers tend to consolidate and tighten operations to save money and better manage smaller communities.
Players from U.S. servers Iron Rock and Volkmar will transfer to the Gorfang server, while German players on Carroburg will migrate to Drakenwald. As these moves take place, EA will activate "multi-realm" on destination servers, allowing players to have characters from both factions on a single realm, and will increase the character limit to 20. When that happens the old servers will be marked as " legacy" until they disappear, preventing new characters from being created on them.

Re: EA Shutting Down Three WAR Servers
This makes me sad, because I really had high hopes for WAR. It had a lot of great ideas, and a great setting. It just didn't click together somehow.
