King of Kong Director Wants to Remake Popular Documentary

Here's an odd story for you. There is some insane talk of remaking The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, the popular documentary on Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe's epic battle to hold the world record score in Donkey Kong. Apparently director Seth Gordon wants to remake the film as a mockumentary. Say what now? Whether we like it or not, according to an interview with The Playlist Gordon is trying to finalize plans to remake the 2007 documentary.

"Instead of doing a traditional narrative feature script, what if we did the remake in the doc style," he said in an interview with Playlist.

As Joystick Division (where I found this silly story) points out - he already did this with the first film.

It is admirable that Gordon still finds this epic battle compelling, but doing a mockumentary seems kind of pointless. If anything it will probably make Billy Mitchell, Steve Wiebe and Walter Day look like idiots.
