Gamification Summit Agenda Detailed

August 31, 2011 -

Organizers of the Gamification Summit announced this morning that they have finalized the agenda and speaker program for the September 15-16 conference occurring in New York City. That agenda includes keynotes, featured talks, design intensives, panels, and workshops that (they hope) teach and inform attendees on the subject. GSummit promises to bring together experts from advertising, healthcare, education, government, media, e-commerce, startups and academia to share knowledge and improve engagement with consumers and employees by using gamification techniques. Though the workshop has sold out, limited tickets remain for the two day event.

"Gamification will transform every organization, from the world’s biggest brands to tech startups and governments," said Gabe Zichermann, founder of Gamification Co. and chair of the Gamification Summit. "Teaching kids to read, rehabilitating people with injuries, improving lifestyles, securing our borders - all this is happening today with the power of gamification, and GSummit is the best place to learn from the experts."

Some of the 45 speakers taking part in the event include Alexandra Wilkis Wilson, co-founder of GiltGroupe; Susan Bonds of 42 Entertainment; Alix Levine, Director of Research at Cronus Global; Geoff Lewis of TopGuest; and Educator Ananth Pai.

Some of the topics are fascinating (at least in concept): they include "The Games Jihadis Play: Extremism, Recruitment and Gamification," a discussion on how extremists are using gamification to recruit new members; and "Gamifying the Classroom: An Inspirational Teacher’s Story of Making Education Fun," which examines how gamification can make education less of a bore for children.

The two-day event will also offer key panels on health care, rewards, education and more featuring speakers from Google, Recyclebank, Aetna, Playboy, Samsung and more.

MattsworknameFunny that Colin Cowherd is so out of the times, he had to try multiple times to get the names of the games right. People like him are anachronisms.04/28/2015 - 8:10am

Andrew EisenWho, Colin Cowherd? No one's suggesting he should be forced out. Or that he should commentate on video games.04/27/2015 - 8:10pm
Matthew Wilson@AE I do not think he should be forced ou though. he has his right to his opinion and shouldnt be forced out because people disagree with it.04/27/2015 - 8:07pm

MontePerhaps they should just add a donation system for creators like the monthly pateron model. Only those who regularly make quality content can get compensated while those who would abuse the system are ignored04/27/2015 - 7:46pm
MontePaid mods is not a bad idea; i mean its only fair that makers be compensated and even better if they can do it full time. UNfortunatly there is too much that can go wrong and room for abuse04/27/2015 - 7:44pm
Andrew EisenYeah, working on that story now. Or rather, I'm working on finding time to write up that story.04/27/2015 - 7:40pm
