This week the White House will launch what it calls the "Digital Promise Initiative," a gathering to promote breakthroughs in education and learning technologies. The event revolves around the national center created by Congress to advance breakthrough technologies that will improve America's education system will be launched on Friday, September 16, at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building at 10 a.m.
The U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will deliver a keynote address. During the launch, the White House will also announce new initiatives that the Administration hopes will spur research and development and private-sector investment in learning technologies.
Digital Promise, also known as the National Center for Research in Advanced Information and Digital Technologies, is a non-profit organization created by the U.S. Congress as part of the 2008 re-authorization of the Higher Education Act. Its mission is to explore the use of new technologies to enhance and improve education.
