Judge OKs Developer's Suit Against Beyonce

A Manhattan judge has cleared the way for a video game maker to continue a $100 million lawsuit against singer Beyonce.

The suit, originally filed in April, had been on hold pending whether the case should be thrown out, but without explanation, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Ramos ruled the case for breach of contract by Gate Five LLC could move forward.

The suit alleges that Beyonce backed out of a deal to work with the developer on a "Starpower: Beyonce" game, demanding more money and making other demands. The suit also alleges that her withdrawal from the deal forced the company to lay off 70 employees when the funding fell through because of Beyonce's departure.

Beyonce's lawyers countered that the singer was within her rights to withdraw because funding for the game had not been secured by a November 2010 deadline.
