Children’s charity (powered by the goodwill of the game industry and the gaming community) Child's Play raised a total of $3,512,345 in 2011. The group also announced that it has raised over $10 million since its launch in 2003. Both are pretty impressive numbers and the group deserves praise and recognition for its continued work on behalf of sick children in 80 hospitals around the world. Here's more from the web site:
"2011 brought some incredible milestones, including breaking the $10 million mark in lifetime contributions, founding our Annual Child’s Play Golf Tournament, rolling out a full website overhaul and seeing the community activism explode via hundreds of events put on by the community. The generosity of gamers has yet again been overwhelming, and our total for 2011 is a number we both amazed and humbled by: $3,512,345."
The group went on to thank the community and charitable events and organizations that helped raise money - such as the various Humble game bundles. Looking ahead Child's Play hopes to raise $3.5 million this year.
Thanks to Andrew Eisen for the tip.
