PAX East Organizers Sign Ten Year Deal to Remain in Boston

February 15, 2012 -

PAX East will keep Boston as its home until 2023, thanks to a new deal with the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. Organizers will also donate $325,000 ($25,00 annually) to Becker College's Massachusetts Digital Games Institute. PAX East has been hosted in Boston since its launch two years ago.

MCCA claims that it has generated over $520 million for local businesses including hotels and other businesses in Boston from the 237 events it hosted in 2011. PAX East is among those events. It brought nearly 70,000 attendees over three days last year. After this year's show in April, the contract for PAX East was set to expire.

Organizers Reed Exhibitions and Penny Arcade Expo predict that 75,000 will attend this year's event, with future annual attendance expected to be 100,000 over the next ten years.
