A Lonely Hearts Club for UK Gamers

February 22, 2012 -

If you have been pining for a place to meet other gamers for companionship, love and romance, then you might want to check out UK-based dating site Date a Gamer. Of course the pitch on the main page of the site might turn off some who think promoting one-night stands and late-night hook-ups is in bad taste:

"Welcome to the biggest dating site in the UK with a particular slant for helping Gamers hook up. Whether you want to date an online player, meet up with fellow geeks, or get some nookie just before you get into another Call of Duty session - this is your site! Gaming is hot. So don't stay single any longer. Come in and play."

The website was created by entrepreneur and TV star Tom Thurlow (presenter of MTV's The Freshers), who considers himself a committed gamer.

"It is reckoned that over two-thirds of men and more than half of women in the UK now regularly play video games, so it's about time they had access to a niche dating website packed with members sharing the same interests," he said. "With dateagamer.co.uk gamers can make friends, have fun and find Mr. or Mrs. Right. It sure beats giving the eye to an avatar all evening!"

The site claims to cater to gamers of all ages and persuasions, and requires a membership to peruse its 150,000 personals. Membership is free. You can find out more about it at www.dateagamer.co.uk.
