Nintendo: 4.5 3DS Systems Sold in U.S. To Date

March 6, 2012 -

Nintendo announced that it has sold over 4.5 million Nintendo 3DS system in the United States in its first year of sales. The Nintendo 3DS launched in the U.S. on March 27, 2011. That number of sales is nearly twice as many units as the original Nintendo DS managed to sell in its first year on sale. Of course Nintendo does not focus too much on the fact that it took a price cut for the system to truly start moving - something the DS didn't need in its first year.

Nintendo also said that over 9 million software sales have been enjoyed in the U.S. to date, while overall sales from 3DS hardware, software and accessories has surpassed $1.2 billion in the U.S.. The company revealed last month that the 3DS has sold 5 million units in Japan.

Maybe he needed a replacement half for his first one?  God knows those hinges break easily enough.

Some guy who was trying to make some kind of wacky, post modern art thing? Or more likely there's a couple 0s missing from that number.
