Organizers of the 2012 Game Developers Conference announced that around 22,500 people attended this year's weeklong event. They peg this as a 22 percent increase over last year's attendance which came in at around 19,000.
GDC director Meggan Scavio said that GDC 2012 provided the "full spectrum of the game development community."
"The continued growth of the conference is a great indicator of a healthy and exciting industry," she said. "We are very proud to provide the forum for game makers to connect, dialogue, showcase, and learn in sessions, summits, expos and pavilions every year."
The 2013 Game Developers Conference will return to San Francisco's Moscone Center and run from March 25 – 29.
While people speak fondly of E3 and PAX events, GDC is the place to go if you truly want to learn something about the industry. Of course, it's not open to the public, so many can't experience beyond a live broadcast on a network like G4TV.
