Draw Something App Sees 20 Million Downloads in Five Weeks

How do you get a multiplayer app about drawing pictures with a friend to be downloaded 20 million times? We have no idea, and it seems like the company that makes Draw Something has no clue as to why the app is really popular either. OMGPOP's CEO Dan Porter told Business Insider that the app has racked up over 20 million downloads in only five weeks – it was released on February 1. Porter also claims that over a billion pictures have been drawn in the game to date, and on Sunday more than 3,000 were being sent out every second.

It might sound like OMGPOP used one of those shady marketing companies to achieve these numbers but he claims that they haven't spent a single dollar on marketing the Pictionary-style game for iOS and Android devices. One thing that at least doubled the number of downloads is that the game requires two players to play..

You can learn more about the game here. It is currently on sale for 0.99 cents.
