Wasteland Kickstarter Gets Off to a Strong Start, Raises over $600K

March 14, 2012 -

The Wasteland 2 Kickstarter is off to a good start, with 11,538 backers pledging $642,383 in funding so far. InXile kicked the campaign off yesterday, asking the Kickstarter community for $900,000 to fund a sequel to the post-apocalyptic role-playing game classic that inspired the Fallout series. Earlier in the morning donations hit the $400,000 mark.

While it's hard to tell just how much InXile will be able to raise in the remaining 33 days of this Kickstarter appeal, there's little doubt that they will far exceed their initial target number.

With the early success of this project’s funding and the $3 million+ raised by Double Fine, we're curious to see how many brand name developers decide that crowd funding is a viable route to fund a game project.

We'll continue to watch this Kickstarter and update you on its progress over the next 33 days.

You can check it out for yourselves here.
