SugarDVD’s Streaming Adult Video Service Lands on PS3

Adult video streaming company SugarDVD is expanding its service with a new app for the PlayStation 3. The saucy adult video service is already available on ROKU, BOXEE, and Google TV. For around $8 a month adult users can watch unlimited streaming titles divided up amongst various categories (which we're not going to mention here). There are also DVD and streaming combo packages, with the most expensive plan – 8 DVDs out at a time and unlimited streaming – for about $40 a month. All the plans include 20 Free VOD (video on demand) minutes, the company's adult pay-per-view service.

IGN has a short video report on it here where they giggle like teenagers about the idea of being able to watch porn on a console. Depending on your definition of "safe for work" this video probably falls in that category.

While pornography remains a taboo subject on its own, having access to it on a home console through a service similar to how Netflix operates might be too much for politicians and moral advocacy groups to resist waging a full assault on it. On the other hand, adults that want to watch adult content and pay for it should have the right to do so.

As long as we don't see ads for it on the PlayStation Blog or the console itself…

I'm sad I was hoping there was an actual app lol

I think this is good going forward but seeing its all in the browser not enough selection I don't see why I would pay for their service. They need more of a selection and PC Streaming support that is not pay per minute.

I believe SugarDVD only built a portal on its website that's friendly to the PS3's internet browser so Sony doesn't have a say one way or the other.

Wait, I am confused… is this something actually being permitted by Sony though one of it's channels?  If so then I would be rather surprised given SECA's tradtional resistance to adult material on playstations.

As a 28 year old male, I want this on my Xbox360. Will it ever make it, I doubt it as MS seems to want to keep the apps available family friendly.

Which just means they are going to lose people that want to be treated as adults even if they don’t act like it online.

PS3's have a web browser, and therefore have always had access to porn on them.  I get that politicians will positively pounce on a story this juicy, but seriously, who cares?  This is exactly the kind of thing parental controls are for.
