Harmonix: We Don't Know Why Rock Band iOS App is Giving Users Expiration Warnings

May 2, 2012 -

Users of the iOS version of Rock Band were surprised to receive a notice from the game warning them that it was going to expire on May 31. First noted by this Reddit thread and pictured to your left, the notice warned users that the $4.99 app was going to expire at the end of the month, but iTunes is still selling the app without such a warning and EA is incommunicado on the story as of this writing.

When Kotaku talked to Rock Band creator Harmonix, they didn't seem to know why the game was spitting out such a notice either, adding that the game was being handled by EA Mobile.

"EA Mobile is responsible for the publishing and hosting of Rock Band on iOS," a Harmonix representative said. "We're reaching out to them to better understand what's happening with the app."

It could just be a technical hiccup that EA is trying to fix because it doesn't make sense why they would be selling a $5 app today that they plan to kill off in less than thirty days.

We'll have more on this story as it develops.

You might have missed a word there.

Umm, EA? Makes perfect sense for them.
