Respawn Entertainment has something in common with Blizzard: both companies will not be attending the Electronic Entertainment Expo next month in Los Angeles. Chances are the company founded by ex-Infinity Ward front men Jason West and Vince Zampella have better things to do (like developing their first game) and more important things to prepare for (like fighting Activision in court on May 29).
Those looking to get a first look at Respawn's first title - speculation that it is a first-person science-fiction shooter being published by Electronic Arts - will have to wait awhile longer. Not much is known about the company's first title save what we've already mentioned but E3 is usually the place where games with a great amount of public interest are unveiled.
The news comes via Joystiq, where Respawn community manager Abbie Heppe told them the following:
"We won't be showing anything or doing any press related to the game," Abbie Heppe said.
Heppe also confirmed the statement with GameSpot.
On a related note, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter says that Activison's settlement with EA yesterday means that Respawn's new game could be released in 2014 without a hitch:
"We believe that the settlement agreement signals that Activision will not attempt to block or delay the first release from Respawn Entertainment," he said.
