On behalf of everyone here at GamePolitics we wish our readers a safe and happy holiday. We hope you are enjoying your extended weekend (assuming you had an extended weekend and didn't have to work for the "man" today) and are out having fun on the unofficial start of summer.
I won't rehash it here, but if you want a detailed explanation of what Memorial Day is all about and why it is a very important holiday to a majority of Americans, then you should check out usmemorialday.org.
I'll leave you with this prose, written in 1915 by Moina Michael who was inspired by the lovely poem In Flanders Fields (from the aforementioned site):
We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
Lawmakers would do well to pay close attention to this holiday and honor those who have paid for our freedom with their blood by being vigilant against any legislation that would diminish our rights. To remind them that our freedom is important, I encourage you to contact your elected representative in the Senate via the ECA's Action Center and let them know that you think bills like the Protect IT act (the Senate's version of CISPA) are wrong for our country.
[Full Disclosure: GamePolitics is an ECA publication.]
