At DreamHack Summer 2012, it was announced that Bachir "Athene" Boumaaza has reached an incredible milestone: he has raised $1,000,000 in the name of Save The Children, a global charity that helps feed and educate children in poor countries around the globe.
Boumaaza began his cause 80 days ago today to raise $1,000,000 and finally reached that goal live at DreamHack on the main stage. He is one of the few solo gamers to raise that amount of money for a charity, setting a milestone that may not be reached for a very long time – if ever.
DC Entertainment, who was a major supporter to the cause, had promised to give an additional $500,000 donation to his fundraiser if the goal was met bringing the grand total he raised to just over $1,500,000.
In case you didn't know, DreamHack Summer 2012 is a major gaming competition event taking place June 16 - 19 at the Elmia Fair in Jonkoping, Sweden.

Re: Gamer Raises $1.5 Million for Save The Children
Athene may sound like a real jackass at times, but he really does care. He's just a bit... high strung... as they used to call it.
Yes, I am a liberal. I also believe in a strong military, less government, and the right to bear arms.
