You may think the Wii U isn't all that powerful, but Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli claims that it is just as powerful as the Xbox 360. Speaking to CVG, Yerli said that a "respected" but unnamed developer is working on a CryEngine 3-powered Wii U title, and it runs as smooth as silk.
"From my perspective I do not understand the public's concerns that the Wii U is weaker than PS3 and 360," he said. "That I cannot see. From my perspective the Wii U is minimum as powerful as Xbox 360.
Yerli went on to say that, despite his company not currently making any games of its own for the platform, his opinion of it is "very high" and that the company's engine runs beautifully on the Wii U.
"My opinion of the Wii U is very high. It's just that we didn't have a business case unfortunately that justifies us making a game for it." he said. "It doesn't mean that CryEngine 3 doesn't run on Wii U – it actually runs beautifully. In fact, there actually is a game in development from a respected developer that we will be announcing. I've seen the game running and it looks really great."
While it may be able to match horsepower with current generation systems, it will be more interesting to see how the Wii U compares to next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
