Asking Sony for a Resistance Sequel is Futile

If you were hoping that a Sony studio or an outside source was going to pick up the popular Resistance franchise abandoned by Insomniac Games earlier this year then we have some bad news for you: It ain't going to happen. Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe online producer Daniel Brooke said that there are no upcoming game based on the property currently in the works.

"The Resistance franchise has been exciting to work on but as for the future we have no definitive plans," he said.

While this does not mean that the series is positively and permanently shelved until the end of time it does mean that we may not see a Resistance game for a very, very long time.

The last game in the series, the PS Vita title Resistance: Burning Skies, was panned by most critics. That game was developed by Nihilistic Software.

I really enjoyed the first one it had a pre 2000 feel to the level design. Was it a great game? no it had issues I think pacing was messed up, def the worest thing about the game. Now the 2nd one is your more typical gun and run title. Smaller levels better flow and pacing. It just bored me more also the MP stuff was a joke. MP is better on 3 but frankly I have not sat down and played through 3 enough. It feels kinda like 2 which I guess is not bad… its just I hate corridor shooters ><

If the second was worse than the first that would be a terrible thing to behold indeed.

The game never grabbed me in any real way.  It didn't offer any new twists on the shooter genre like Half-Life 2 with the gravity gun, it wasn't atmospheric like Singularity, nor did it have a story or characters I cared about like Bulletstorm.

Good riddance.  I played about half way through the first Resistance before the tedium broke me.  It isn't that it is a "bad" game.  It is just so standard and does everything so standard that it is like drinking body temperature water.
