Treyarch Reveals 'Champion of the 99 Percent' as Villain in Black Ops 2

July 11, 2012 -

Treyarch is diving headfirst into politics with the new villain from Call of Duty Black Ops 2. According to Gameranx the new villain will be Raul Menendez, a man described as a "champion of the 99 percent," who is a lot like Wikileaks front man Julian Assange. In the game Menendez hopes to start a "global insurrection against the status quo."

The trailer, which you can check out to your left, sets up the plot well enough, and offers an odd interaction between protagonist Sgt. Frank Woods and the freshly revealed villain. As some readers have pointed out, first impressions of the plot coupled with Fox News contributor Oliver North shilling the game seem to be pushing a particular train of thought when it comes to generally liberal movements. Of course, we have no idea where the plot for this game will lead to, so it's hard to say at the moment.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set for release on November 13 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Thanks to Kalil Chernov for the tip.

Big business making the common people out to be terrorists and villains. Figures.

This is just the trailers. If there isn't a big plot twist midway where it turns out this guy's right and there's a corrupt general or two who need to be taken out before they cause WW3, I'll be surprised.
