Blizzard Issues Hotfixes for Diablo III Character Class Exploits

July 27, 2012 -

An update on Battle.net confirms that Blizzard has squashed two exploits that gave players unlimited health and invulnerability while playing two character classes in Diablo III - even in online game sessions.

Earlier in the week we reported about an exploit involving the Wizard class that gave players temporary invulnerability and another exploit that gave the Barbarian class a method to generate a steady supply of health. Today we are happy to report that Blizzard has dealt with both exploits with a hotfix update. From Battle.net:

Below you'll find a list of hotfixes which address various gameplay and service issues affecting Diablo III. Hotfixes are updates we make on our end without requiring you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented, while others may require your realm to be restarted to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. We will continue to update this thread in the days ahead as additional hotfixes are applied.

  • Fixed a bug that allowed wizards to become permanently invulnerable

  • Fixed a health regeneration bug that occasionally affected barbarians when using Furious Charge

Hopefully this will be the last we'll hear about class-based exploits that have the potential to affect everything from players shortcutting the leveling process to being able to get rare items in harder game modes that could potentially be used to exploit the real-money auction house system...

"even in online game sessions"?  As opposed to what?  There is no such thing as an offline game session for Diablo III.  You are always online, and subject to the lag, glitching, and disconnects that naturally go along with that.

I haven't been on it since it lagged out on my and a disconnected in single player.
