Valve Confirms Creativity and Productivity Software Coming to Steam

Valve Software today officially announced that its digital distribution platform Steam will expand its software offering to include creativity and productivity software offerings. Steam is one of the top digital distribution platforms for PC and Mac game software in the world.

"The 40 million gamers frequenting Steam are interested in more than playing games," said Mark Richardson at Valve. "They have told us they would like to have more of their software on Steam, so this expansion is in response to those customer requests."

The first titles will be released September 5. You can find out more at

Duh.  Of course we are but on Steam we only want games.  So stick to games.

I can see it now:  You played Microsoft Office for 15 hours this week and earned the "I Found Clippy" achievement!

Next thing you know, Valve will be selling refrigerators via Steam because gamers are "interested in more than just playing games and using productivity software".  Soon Valve will enter the real estate market and we'll be able to buy a house because we need to be able to put that refrigerator somewhere.  And then they'll enter the job placement market because we need to make money to pay for the house.
