The Art of Video Games Exhibit Coming to Boca Raton, Florida

The Art of Video Games exhibit from the Smithsonian American Art Museum is invading the Boca Raton Museum in Boca Raton, Florida on October 24. In fact, the Boca Raton Museum of Art will be the first museum in the nation to host the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s exhibition following its successful run in Washington, D.C. The exhibit will run from October 24 to January 13, 2013, and is being sponsored by FMSbonds, Inc.

In case you have forgotten, The Art of Video Games gives visitors a lesson on the 40-year evolution of video games as an art form, offering graphics, storytelling, and player interactivity that can only be experienced through video games. During its stay in South Florida, the Boca Raton Museum of Art will offer a variety of programs and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages and interests as well.

A companion book, The Art of Video Games: From Pac-Man to Mass Effect, written by curator Chris Melissinos will be available for purchase in the Museum Store too. The book is published by Welcome Books and examines each of the 80 featured games – from development to their impact on culture.
