GaymerCon Raises Nearly $70K, New Stretch Goal Announced

The organizers of GaymerCom passed along an update to let us know that the Kickstarter campaign for the first-ever GLBT gaming event (to take place in early 2013 in San Francisco) has managed to raise nearly $70,000 from 1,209 backers with just three more days to go. If you haven't made a pledge you should probably get to it before the Kickstarter ends to secure a pass to the event.

Since the GaymerCon Kickstarter managed to raise over $65,000 in the last month, it surpassed the "stretch goals" allowing for a GaymerConcert and the ability to invite in a celebrity Boss of Honor alongside "bosses" like Zach Weiner of SMBC Comics, Mike Fass (Zangief) of Street Fighter: The Later Years, and chiptune specialists EZKL & Aethernaut.

GaymerCon also revealed a final stretch goal over the weekend – if organizers can reach $100K, they will create a system called GaymerConnect. Here's more on that:

"The aim, as detailed on their Kickstarter page, is that 'you can easily go in and find other Gaymers to play your favorite games with. Playing Call of Duty? Here are all the Queer Clans. Looking for someone to fight against in Street Fighter 4? Here are 20 awesome geeks to play against.'"

You can find out more about the event here or go directly to the Kickstarter campaign here.

We'll follow this project to the end of its Kickstarter and reveal the numbers to you as soon as it closes.
