Battlefield 3 Producer Joins Angry Birds Maker Rovio

Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu is leaving EA DICE to work for Angry Birds developer Rovio, it was revealed today. It's an interesting move for Rovio who is best known for its single casual game property. Prior to joining Rovio, Liu worked at DICE for five years as senior producer. Prior to joining DICE, he was an associate producer at Starbreeze Studios, working on such popular franchises as The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

Rovio's General Manager Oskar Burman revealed the hire via Twitter earlier today:

"Excited to finally reveal our first hire! Game developer legend @pottan will join as Creative Director of Rovio Stockholm!"

Patrick Liu tweeted his thoughts on the move too:

"#Rovio feels awesome, can-do mentality, big ideas, agile, empowering, disruptive. Looking forward to new and exciting challenges."

It will be interesting to see how Rovio leverages the talents of Lui to either enhance the Angry Birds franchise or to create something new for the company.
