According to this Tech Radar report, Samsung has gone ahead and added the iPhone 5 to the list of apple devices that infringe on its patents. The company has added the latest iPhone to eight complaints it has filed against Apple, claiming that its devices infringe on various patents it holds.
Samsung filed the new claims on September 18 "after it checked out" the new iPhone. It claims that the iPhone 5 violates a number of its utility patents and the UMTS 3G standard, which it holds a patent for.
"The iPhone 5 has the same accused functionality as the previously accused versions of the iPhone, so the proof of infringement of the patents-in-suit by the iPhone 5 is the same as for other Apple devices already accused of infringement in this litigation," the company said in a statement. "We have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights," said Samsung.
While Samsung may have added more padding to its complaints against Apple, these latest additions won't be addressed by a court until July and August of next year...
