Welcome to the platinum club, Resident Evil 6 and FIFA 13. According to word from Capcom, worldwide initial shipments of Resident Evil 6 have surpassed 4.5 million. This is the highest number of shipments for a single title, according to Capcom. The game was released on multiple platforms on October 2. Capcom also announced that the Resident Evil series has had cumulative sales of more than 50 million units worldwide since the first title was released in 1996. Capcom expects Resident Evil 6 to sell 7 million copies. Apparently negative reviews and the cheers and jeers from fans have not killed the momentum for this latest Resident Evil game…
Meanwhile, Electronic Arts announced that FIFA 13 sold 4.5 million copies across the globe during its first five days of release, up from 1.3 million units from FIFA 12's first-week sales of 3.2 million. EA said that these numbers represent the "biggest video game launch of 2012" as well as the most lucrative sports game launch in history.
FIFA 13 was released in the United Kingdom on September 28, and sold 1.23 million copies in that region during its first 48 hours. Last week, EA announced that first-day sales in North America were up by 42 percent to 353,000 copies. In addition to breaking sales figures, EA claims that FIFA 13 reached a new peak online usage milestone with 800,000 users playing the new soccer game simultaneously.
