We have not done the best job of promoting Extra Life this month even though it's biggest gaming event of 2012 is going to kick off on Saturday, October 20. We apologize profusely for that because they rally gamers like you and me to raise funds for sick and injured kids in children's hospitals across North America.
But it's not just gamers that are getting involved: journalists at G4TV, internet communities like Reddit, game companies like Microsoft (Xbox division), and even trade groups like the ESA have formed teams to raise money by getting pledges and playing gaming marathon sessions all in the name of charity. And you don't have to play to take part in this charitable endeavor: you can also pledge your support to individuals and teams that you like.
According to organizers, Extra Life has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings in 2008, with more than 10,000 players registered for game day 2012.
