Ravaged: First Crowd-Funded Game Lands on Origin

Electronic Arts announced this morning that the very first crowd-funded game has landed on Origin, the company's digital distribution platform. After successfully being funded via Kickstarter, the post-apocalyptic vehicle-based action game from 2 Dawn Games and Reverb Publishing is complete and ready for purchase.

Electronic Arts announced earlier this year that it would support games funded by the community through sites like Kickstarter and would let them be sold via Origin free of charge.

"The crowd-funding movement is incredibly healthy for the gaming industry,” said David DeMartini, Senior Vice President of Origin said in May of this year. "Gamers around the world deserve a chance to play every great new game, and by waiving distribution fees on Origin we can help make that a reality for successfully crowd-funded developers."

Whatever your opinion of Origin or EA, at least the company is showing that it can keep its word… Expect to see more games funded by the community in the months ahead. Ravaged is also available via Steam.

Shame that they're absolutely wrong on their declaration considering that FTL: Faster than Light was the first crowd funded game to be released and released a month prior.

Sort of coming in second place and screaming that you won. Might make yourself feel good but it doesn't change the fact that you're still the first loser in the race.

Hmm, qwll, too bad I don't care, and if I liked the game, I'd never get it. I made the mistake of installing The Sims 3 on my computer, and it kept harassing me to install Origin.
