Earlier this month some Muslims in the Call of Duty community complained that the Favela multiplayer map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was offensive because a painting placed above a toilet had holy teachings written around its frame "Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty."
To its credit, developer Infinity Ward pulled the maps out of rotation and promised to edit them. Today Infinity Ward has fulfilled that promise and relaunched the edited map on the PlayStation 3 version of the game. Favela is also expected to return to online rotation in the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game soon as well.
"Activision and our development studios are respectful of diverse cultures and religious beliefs, and sensitive to concerns raised by its loyal game players," Activision said in a statement. "We thank our fans for bringing this to our attention."
