Zynga this week shuffled the senior management deck as chief financial officer David Wehner left to take an executive post at Facebook. Mark Pincus has apparently restructured the management team in a way that centralizes command structure and fills the gigantic gaps left by recent departures from the company in the last few months.
With that in mind, Pincus has promoted David Ko, (the former head of mobile) to the position of chief operations officer. Former executive vice president of business and corporate development, Barry Cottle, has been promoted to the post of chief revenue officer. He’ll assume some of the duties that Schappert handled, while Ko will also take on some of those duties.
Steven Chiang has been promoted as the new president of games, while former chief accounting office Mark Vranesh will replace Wehner as chief financial officer. Vranesh will also remain chief accounting officer.
Pincus explained the changes in a blog post – including Wehner's exit from the company.
"Dave remains a good friend to us all and we wish him success in his next role," said Pincus. "Mark, David, Barry, and Steve are rooted in our culture, committed to our future, and part of the talented bench of leadership at Zynga. I’m confident we have the right team to deliver on our mission of connecting the world through games and position us for long-term growth."
