The Pixel Academy’s Winter Workshop Sampler Hits Brooklyn Dec. 29

On December 29 The Pixel Academy will set up shop in the ArtsCetera on 212 Smith Street in Brooklyn to create a 21st century digital media lab for kids. Open house ALL DAY (10am-8pm) – Instructors will be teaching classes on a range of creative technologies and answering questions about Pixel Academy and their educational programs.

Pixel Academy (founded by Mike Fischthal, former lead game designer at Nickelodeon) recently launched a funding drive on Fundable to create a more permanent space for the various technology outreach programs it conducts in the New York City area. The idea behind Pixel Academy is to give children access to technology-based learning experiences including code camps, 3-D printing workshops, and game design. Currently the Pixel Academy offers private and public workshops all over New York City in topics such as video game design, 3D printing, and Arduino fashion design.

The upcoming event in Brooklyn offers an entire day of learning, with each course costing just one cent (so bring those pennies). A full breakdown of the day's scheduled events and workshops can be found below:
