Gearbox Software has finally issued an update that deals with the bug that stripped some players of their "Badass tokens" in Borderlands 2. The update for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game enables the game to analyze save games and detect Badass Rank that might have been lost due to the glitch. Players first reported issues with their Badass Tokens inexplicably disappearing.
The patch notes for 360 and PS3 are available here (Xbox 360) and here (PS3). The PC version of the game was patched last month. It is unclear if this patch actually stops the glitch from happening still, but at least it provides a method for restoring your character(s).
According to the patch notes, players need to do the following:
"To ensure you are credited for as much progress as possible, please load your character, select 'Continue' on the Main Menu, and then 'Save and Quit' after you enter the world."
The patch notes go on to say that Gearbox "modified profile behavior to better protect Badass Rank and related data." We're hoping that means the patch significantly reduces the occurrence of the glitch, if it doesn't completely eradicate it.
